Alright I was supposed to start my new job this morning, woke up, got ready made it there ahead of time,...and sat,....for an hour,....then was told that they had not approved my position yet,.......

So all that for nothing, and basically I was hopeful that the floor was going to open up and swallow me.

I came home and went back to bed.

And they didn't have the common decency to tell you this because...??

Ugh, Jinxy, that was just rude and horrible! *HUGS*

It's a temp to hire job and I got the call on Thursday that everything was all set and to show up today, I'm just stressy about it actually.

They called and told you to show up and then changed the story when you got there? That sucks. Did the person who called on Thursday have any excuses for the mix-up?

I hope everything gets quickly straightened out for you. :)

Was it a temp agency that told you to show up or the job itself? Hoping it's a misunderstanding on the agency's side because I'd be leery of working for that company if it was their mess-up...

Fingers crossed that it all works out... X :)

I had that happened before. I didn't use a temp agency for that. I just walked in and done the application. They interviewed me that day. When I got hom, they told me, to come in the following Monday to start work. So I did, I got there 1/2hr early. Only to be told, that I am not needed after all.:(

ohh I have had something similar happen too, right after I finished college. Sent my resume out, got a call back, was interviewed, told to fill out an application and then called and asked if I could start the next day at noon. I got there a few minutes early, and was pulled aside by the training manager who informed me that the hiring lady made a mistake...they do not hire medical assistants, only nursing assistants.

even though i was a certified medical assistant, with more training than a nurses assistant and willing to work for the same pay, they would not hire me (back, I guess lol)

had gotten a call on Thursday from the temp place that I had gotten the job, was to start on Monday. I spent the weekend getting things together at the house and with my business so that there wouldn't be any interuptions with my starting the new job.
I got up, got dressed made it in early no less on Monday morning, and sat and waited, and waited and waited. The woman who will be my boss got in an hour after I was told to be there and pulled me aside to let me know that she had not gotten approval from her boss to have me there yet and there had to have been a misunderstanding. I let her know what I had been told and then got out of there asap.
I got a phone call Monday around 5:15 from the temp place to let me know of the misunderstanding on their end, and they would let me know what was going on as soon as they found out.

While I've gotten over most of my shyness in life, work situations are still really hard for me, new people out and about I don't really worry about, if I don't feel like being social I don't have to be, but in an office situation it's a "have-to" have contact and be social and sitting there was the worst I've felt in a long time. Then to be called into an office and told there was a mistake and having to leave the office, frankly it sucked massively. I do know that it wasn't anything I did and that helps.

Starting a new job is hugely stressful. That was a lousy thing to happen. Hopefully they'll get it sorted soon and you'll be able to laugh about with your new co-workers.
