I finally have a date for my surgery, Aug 22. I am currently on the cancellation list. If someone calls up and cancells there date and it is earlier than mine then the nurse is supposed to call me and I will take that date.

I really wanted a June or July date, since the kids are out of school. If my two girls (16 and 13) are in school who will help me around.

That gives me two additional months to get down to the 150 range. I have been stuck at 163/165 for the past 2 or 3 months. I have been running +/-10 miles a day 6 days a week, I have been trying to eat more and better. I have been laying off of fast food and sweets. Although I haven't been going to the gym I have replaced it with running at home. I think I have gotten addicted to running, I love it, it is like a personal race with myself. I go out every day with the intention of bettering my run and getting home faster and faster. I don't even have a scale, when I take the kids to the doctor is the only time I get to get on the scale. I don't know what else to do.

Speaking of doctors. I think that my 5 year old, Justin, has chicken pox. At first I thought it was a heat rash, then it started spreading and I thought that it was poison ivy, then I saw it all over his hands, it looks like a huge mass of small pimply, clear fluid filled bumps. It is also starting to go down his chest and back. He says it itches but he hasn't really itched it alot.

I know that the doctor can't do much for him other than giving him calamine lotion and oatmeal baths, and just letting it run its course.

One of my neighbors acted as though he had the bubonic plague. I told her that it is best for him to get it now than when he is an adult, adults can die from CP. I have never had it, but I think that Ashley gave me immunities to it when I was 5 months pregnant and she had it.

you mentioned in your post that you need to drop a few more pounds...

There's one way of doing it, it's not the best method, but it will work. It's putting your body into "ketosis".

That's basically when you cut out virtually all sugars, starches, carbs. The body begins burning the fat itself, and the weight drops off.

Again, it's not perfect, but if you just need to get the last few pounds off, it might work.

If you've already tried that, the please disregard. Or if you don't feel comfortable with the idea, either. It's just an opinion.

Yay on your surgery date...(well, surgery sucks, but, you know...)

Boo for chicken pox. I had it when I was 7, my brother gave it to me. I have a scar on my thigh from it but that's the only lasting effect...you might want to ask your doc about getting vaccinated if you've never had it....you wouldn't want to wind up getting sick and have to postpone surgery...

Actually, if you do it right, it IS the best method. ;)

You don't need to cut out all carbs, just the simple ones from filler foods such as simple starches and sugars.

Nutrient dense food, no hunger, higher energy, fewer cravings, easier to sustain than low fat/low calorie.

Going on 6 years myself. No plans to stop. Ever.
