Can I change where my downloads on Firefox go? Right now they're set to save to the Desktop, and I don't know how to change it.
It's annoying because I spend a few hours on Firefox, and I close out, and there's all these icons I don't particularly need crowding my desktop!

It may vary slightly depending on platform/version, but for me (using Firefox 2.0.0.6 on a Mac), go to Preferences, Main, and change the "Download to" location.

It's pretty simple . . . I had to change mine so they could all go into the Downloads folder instead of the desktop . . . I hate a cluttered desktop.;)
On my version (version 2.0.0.6) I just click on
Tools
Downloads
Then click on the folder at the bottom of the window and it'll bring up the folder tree. Just click on the folder you want your downloads to go into and you should be set.

huh! I've (also .0.0.6) always used Tools / Options / Main (tab) / Downloads (pane) but you're right - that space in between "All files downloaded to:" and the "Clean Up" button IS a button! I don't know if it's the color scheme I have or the generic skin I use for Firefox, but that area isn't 3D or outlined or anything on my machine.... but it definitely brings up a little explorer window when clicked. Learn something new every day.

It doesn't highlight for mine either.
Hm.

Me neither. It must be the ui they use, so thanks for the FYI. That's really cool!
I like my downloads to go to the desktop since I can just minimize all the windows and then deal with the file from there without having extra icons on my screen as shortcuts to anywhere. I always delete the file when I'm done with it. I can't stand having more than one row of icons on my computer. I also have my firefox configured to clear the download as soon as it is done so it doesn't clutter up the downloads area. I don't like clutter on my computer. :D
