The metal section on the tower case has an enormous stain on it.
I'd take a picture and post it, but I can't find the camera.
I suspect nicotine stains from my mom's smoking around it all the time, but this just popped up overnight.

I was wondering if it actually came from the factory that way, and if it did how old was it.

You know, like how appliances used to come in brown, avocado and (yeesh...) harvest gold.

Um, could it be a heat burn? Where the case paint might have been cooked? If your mom smokes, you might not have noticed the smell.

In my house, stains that just "pop up" are usually cat weewee, or a spilled drink that didn't get noticed. Open up the case and see if the stain continues to the inside. While you're in there dust it out ;) The case can be cleaned with Windex and paper towels while its off.
