I want it all and I want it now!
Before the Super Bowl yesterday I went to BB to peruse the PS3 games and BlueRay discs. Mind you, the game started at 3PM my time, it was 1:45PM at the time of this incident.
PP: Poor Planner
HBE: Hapless BestBuy Employee
PP: What the hell do you mean it has to be ordered?!? The Super Bowl is on in an hour!!
HBE: I'm sorry sir, we don't normally stock that model(bigscreen HDTV). If you'd like I can show you several similar models we do have.............
PP: NO! I want this one and I want it right now! Make it happen!
HBE: I'm sorry sir, I don't physically have one to sell you. If you want that particular TV, I'll have to order it.
PP: Get a screwdriver and take it off the wall. It's leaving with me today!
HBE: I'm sorry sir, that display model is not for sale at this time.
PP: Get me your manager! This is the worst service yada yada yada............
I walked away at that point. I couldn't take anymore.
If you must have a TV for the Super Bowl, buy what they have or plan in advance if you want a specific one. Bloody Hell...........
Leave me the Hell alone
After I left BB I stopped for a 12 pack of inebriant and some pretzels at 7/11. While waiting to pay, I was verbally molested by a slackwitted football fan in a Steelers jacket. I am a Green Bay fan and was wearing my GB jacket. I need to learn to leave it in the closet this time of year...........
Me: :help:
SF: Steelers Fan (smelled of Whiskey)
SF: <said in the same tone as "My God man! You just gutted that puppy with a Spork!"> Dude! You're just now getting ready for the Super Bowl?!?!? It starts in 30 minutes!!!(Yelled at me from about six inches in front of my face)
Me: Uh, I live 4 blocks away.........
SF: You'd better hurry! You'll miss the start!
Me: Right.....................
For those of you who didn't watch it, the "start" of the game is 45 minutes of insipid BS about what the teams will probably do but no one can say for sure that I can frankly do without. I could have driven all over town after leaving 7/11 and still made it home to catch the kickoff. But no, I'd "better hurry", as my lack of planning has clearly jeopardized my future as a football fan. How could I be so careless?

Amen to that last bit. I don't watch much football. Some years all I watch is the Super Bowl. I fully expect that one year soon they will have a Pre-Pre-Kickoff show with a significant discussion on different ref's flipping abilities.

Ugg...I hate Steelers fans. Not all, (a few of my best buds from college are Steelers fan) but the majority that I've come across in my life are like that dude. It also doesn't help that I'm an avid Browns fans and therefore they are my mortal enemy.

65 inch HDTV
base/basket/foot ball, hockey, jai alai, bowling, not allowed on it. I have friends that do like watching sports but they learned the time I came into the room saw they had turned on some sport and said, "WTF is that doing on my TV?" then turned the channel. heheheheh.

I think it's not horribleness, but the inability to win a championship. I don't know when the Lions last won anything, but until the Red Sox won just a couple years ago, they had the worst luck of any team at it. Now that honour belongs to the Cubs.

It's not even the inability to win the championship... it's the inability to even get to the championship. The Lions have never been to the Super Bowl... and I don't think they ever won a pre-SB era championship. If they did, it was a very long time ago. I blame it on the uniforms. How can you get fired up when you're wearing sky blue and silver?

You wanna play the game who has it worse? I'm a Cleveland fan; Browns, Indians, Cavs. We haven't won a Super Bowl/World Series/NBA Championship since 1948.
Granted, the Cavs got to the Finals last year, but all basketball fans know how that one turned out. And the Indians made it to the ALC games, buuut bit it in the end in true Cleveland fashion.
But it seems all Cleveland fans are gluttons for punishment and we keep coming back year after year after year... *sigh*

For your consideration:
The Cincinnati Bengals have the distinction having the WORST RECORD (most losing) of the 1990s in ALL FOUR professional sports. This includes NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB.

Nah, when you have a player with an attitude like that you enjoy it. Chelsea had a coach who was outspoken but good. Although his rantings would get us in trouble he could rile up anybody. I've always pictured ESPN interviews with him to be quite hilarious. Think his best quote was him saying he was more concerned about bird flu and the effect it could have on his players than Manchester United catching up with him in the standings.

My mom's from a small town in southern Illinois that's close to St. Louis, so she's a Cardinal fan. You ought to hear her about the Cubs! The Cards have kind of rubbed off on me, too, though. It's also amusing that no matter how good they're doing, at some point, the Cubs will choke.
I just hope that the Cards never wind up playing the Yankees in the World Series. I might have to go home to referee between my parents! Mum=Cardinals; Da=Yankees. :p

Uh... back when I paid attention to baseball (IE, before steroids became rampant), I wasn't a Yankee fan. Right now I vaguely root for the team I grew up with, but couldn't tell you who a single player on it is... and it's likely to stay that way until baseball gets a substance abuse policy with real teeth and real enforcement.

I feel like I'm working in the casino again....
we got to wear 'generic' jerseys during hockey season on special blackjack tables (Known as the party pit.) that had little pucks and stuff on them in hockey themed. we had to yell out (or just say ) 'Score!" and stuff whenever someone got a good hand, and various hands had different things (Three 7=hat trick).
anyways, we were allowed to wear real team jerseys. If you know Calgary and Edmonton, our hockey teams are known as 'the great rivals'... I'm sure that if they could BOTH make the Cup run, the amount of /good natured/ rivalry would be something to remember.
AS it was, that year the home team made the playoffs (Edmonton '06). I told my coworkers I was thinking of borrowing a friends' flames jersey (the rival team).
They said "They woudlnt let you!"
I pointed out "then they have to tell the girl who wears the Penguins team she cant,a nd the guy who wears the Canadiens jersey, and the Maple Leaf jersey too."
They said I had a point. Sadly I coudlnt get in touch with the friend in time. :(

The Old Firm (The link I provided) is a rather intense Scottish soccer match. I've heard some rather nasty chants being sung. I should provide a link to Lazio-Roma, politics at its finest complete with fascism and nationalism! Heck, two teams in Spain have been hating each other since the Spanish Civil War! Alright, there's a notable bunch.
In Argentina we have the Superclasico (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercl%C3%A1sico) of Boca Juniors and River Plate.
In Italy we have:
The derby d'Italia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derby_d%27Italia) between the two best teams in Italy.
The Milan rivalry, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derby_della_Madonnina#The_rivalry) one team is supported by the working class, the other by the upper class.
My favorite, the Rome rivalry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derby_della_Capitale). (Forza Lazio!) another case of class wars going on.
Greece they have what's called the Rivalry of the Eternal Enemies. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derby_of_the_eternal_enemies)
In England we have: The Manchester rivalry. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manchester_derby) And the North London (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_London_derby) rivalry, this one is more intense as one team's fans poisoned their rival team's players meals causing them to have stomach bugs and miss the game. Yes this did happen.
And finally in Spain we have El Clasico (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Clasico). Two team that have hated each other since the Spanish Civil War.
Enjoy. :)

Love that story. I actually recall the days way back to 25 years ago when the little 20 inch TV was what we watched the Super Bowl on. As long as we had a picture and could see it all, we didn't care about high definition or how huge the screen was. It makes me wonder why this guy didn't buy his TV weeks ago. I'm willing to bet he was one of those "renters" who was going to get the TV, take it home for the game, then return it the following Monday. He probably had a party going on at home and it was about to be ruined.
