So tempting to write a book about a current issue at work but, I can't due to policy. :(
But to keep it simple:

A supervisor wants his entire team to have laptops but he's to cheap to requisition them though the legitimate channels.

He wants the laptops because he wants his team to work from home so he can work at home and work two full time jobs (since this job is interfering with his other FT job).

So, he decides to log dozens of tickets on everything blaming one application saying that only a laptop will fix the issue.

Uh-huh.

I hope you have decent IT people there. Proper response to a ticket like that is disbelieving laughter.

You're talking to the IT person there. :)

Resolution: Reflash the entire team's computer with a fresh copy of windows and the applications they need.

Solution: accidentally turn on a very large electromagnet near both your sup's computer and the server on which this trouble queue lies.

No more tickets, no more requirements.

Solution: "Um....no. Same application, same OS, a different computer will NOT make a difference."

Alternate solution: take proof of his using company time for other job to HR. THEN he won't have to worry about this job interfering with his other one!

Hopefully after the disbelieving laughter. If you make them feel stupid after making a stupid request, they might think before submitting the next one.
