So today I was supposed to work a double on the roof deck of The Bar, bartending the day shift, serving the night shift.

This morning Rockin' Manager calls me to tell me that, due to weather (major windage), they are closing the deck and I have the day off.

I tell her to call me if anyone decides they want a shift off, bartender or server.

Than I call her back and tell her that, if a server wants the night off, call my new roommate JP, as he needs the money more than me. She says not only will she do that, she will actually see if anyone is near overtime, give them the night off, and give the shift to JP. She said that, one way or another, she will make sure he is working, and will call him to tell him that. (He was supposed to be working as a server on the deck tonight with me.) Which is very nice and awesome of her.

And then she really amazed me. She told me flat out that if I wanted to work, she would make sure that I did as well, and would send someone home to make that happen. I told her, no, don't do that....if someone wants the night off, great, but I don't want to do that if they don't want the night off. (It's a bit different with JP, as he is still trying to make rent, and as he's my new roommate, I really want him to make said rent!)

But it's nice to know that I am so beloved by my management that they would send someone home to let me work if I wanted to. It's not always a bad thing to be the Teacher's Pet! I've referred to her as Rockin' Manager many times in the past, and now you know why. And yes, I WOULD walk through a wall for her, or The Bar! :super: :worship:

Having an excellent manager makes any job worthwhile. Your manager does care for her employees and tries to accomodate them. She truly is a Rockin' Manager :yourock:

Yeah, my boss is the same way too. When I came back, he flat-out told me that I could have as many hours as I wanted to have, because 'I would much rather be overpaying to have someone who wants to be here and gets shit done then be paying someone who can't wait to leave.'

Which, consequently, is why I love my job. I gladly work 60 hours a week when I'm there.
