My youngest boy is strange. Typical almost-2yo, except he likes to wear his shoes and jacket around the house. Maybe he is wanting to go somewhere? Go play outside? I don't know, but he doesn't act like it after I put them on. He'll go to his room or sit and watch cartoons.
He'll go grab his shoes and shove them in my lap and say "shoe!!", then sit down in front of me and put his feet up. He then will go grab his jacket and indicate that he wants it on. Doesn't hurt anything, so I let him do it, figuring it is just a phase.
He will wear them all day if I didn't make him take them off at naptime and bedtime. I have a strange bebeh....

Wow, most of them just like to take the shoes off. There are worse phases he could have :D

I know it could be worse... I just think that in all my experience with kids, having 5 younger siblings and umpteen younger cousins, this is one thing I have never seen a kid do.

This sounds familiar. My cousin's son became obsessed with wearing a bike helmet 24/7 after he saw the movie Valiant, since all the birds in the movie wear helmets (albeit WWII soldier helmets). He even wore it to the family Christmas party.
He's about the same age as your youngest (almost 2) so your little one might've seen something similar that inspired his sudden jacket-and-shoes phase. I'd just go with it. If you can figure out where he got the idea from, you can probably make a game of some sort out of it.

One of the honorary nephews took it into his mind to give me a good punch in the gut on Sunday. He's roughly nine-years-old. I tensed, and he wailed away with a strained wrist.
Comedy gold!
Actually, he was fine in a minute, but it taught him a lesson. Not all my bulk is unecessary weight.

My two-year old nephew likes to wear his shoes all the time, too. Any pair, he likes them all.
I gave him a fun pair of rubber boots for Christmas with polar bears printed on them. He liked them so much my sister ended up letting him wear them to bed. She had to wait until he fell asleep to take them off.

My kids aren't that big on coats even when it's cold but they almost always wear some sort of shoe. They have hunting/hiking boots, barn boots (better to wade the poo with), play shoes, Sunday-go-to-meetin shoes/school shoes (private school requires polished leather shoes, gym shoes both inside and outside, house shoes and other assorted shoes dependng up the use.
I don't have as many as they do but I'm rarely barefoot. My mom said that as a baby when they would put me in the grass barefoot I would just set down and cry but if I had shoes on I was fine. Heck I even wear socks to bed.

As soon as my daughter gets through the door from school, the first thing she does (if she's not wearing a coat) is take off her shoes & socks.
Then, when I send her off to the potty, she comes back wearing only her shirt & underpants. No pants though. If she could go without her underwear, she would. If she could go without her shirt, she'd do that too.
My daughter, free spirit. She'd be nekkid all the time! :p

ever seen/heard Dana Carvey's comedy central spot where he talks about his kids who have a scheduled "It's Naked Time!"?
Pure genius!

Fuzzy, in my house we call that floor phobic and I have it. :D For some reason I just cannot be without my shoes in my house. Not sure why; I'm just more comfortable wearing them then I am without them.
But the coat? I agree, you has strange babeh.

Fuzzy - I think my daughter would love the scheduled "It's Naked Time!" She might be a nudist when she grows up.

I am complete opposite. I like shoes and how they look on my feet but 90% of my summers are all barefoot for me as much as possible. I revel in my feet not being cold for 80% of the day like in fall/winter/spring.

I take my shoes off whenever possible. When I'm home I'm usually wearing socks. But I sleep barefoot.

true enough, but you gotta hear/see the bit. It is pretty old, but oh so hilarious. He talks about being a parent and such... stuff that ALL parents can relate to.

In my house, we call that having 6 dogs and 3 cats, and try as we might, not all are completely housebroken! Watch your step!

Barefoot is probably my normal state of being. Socks and I have a very hate/hate relationship.
