View Full Version : What the?
Ok, I've seen lots of garbage and litter in the middle of the road before.....but this entire weekend I've seen some crazy ass stuff.....
Friday on my way home from work/laundry, I saw an entire muffler in the MIDDLE of the road. Like, right in the middle of both lanes. Someone must have went to Meineke for their muffler, apparently (same thing happened to me, except it just dragged behind my car). How do you not know your muffler just fell off?!
Saturday on the WAY to Wal-Mart 10 miles away, on the freeway, there was a bunch of lumber all over a stretch of road. Someone must have been hauling lumber and lost a bunch of it. That was sure fun, going into the ditch just to avoid running it over....
Then on the way BACK from Wal-Mart, in the median where cops usually stake out, I saw a car seat. I hope the baby remembered to tuck and roll.

On my way into work the other day there was a box in the middle of the on ramp for 59. I had to violently swerve in order to avoid it. I dunno if it's still there; I've been avoiding the highways of late.

I always wonder about the proliferation of single shoes I always see on the side of the road. What's up with that?
The husband used to live in a brownstone down near where the railroad tracks cuts through the party district and stuff would fly off the train all the time. Furniture, a pretty nice garbage can, and in one case, a very nice tambourine. Weird.
But at least explainable. I can't explain the shoes.

Kids. Kids just love to throw things out car windows. Anything they can get their hands on. And if nothing else is in reach, that will include their shoes.

I got home this morning and walked around to the passenger side to collect some things, sitting plainly on the curb was a women's butt-thong
Last year, just after I finished moving into my new place, I was headed back accross town to return my dad's truck to him, and there was a black leather love-seat in the 2nd lane from the left of I-80. I grumbled a bit because I had the truck to haul it with and could have asked the police if I could take it (of course explaining it wasn't mine so as not to get ticketed) but I was pooped from moving all day and my friend was in no condition to help move it, either (a small, diabetic female who was in need of some R&R) I swerved, sighed, and called 911.

A while back a friend of mine found a bright pink dildo wrapped in a condom in the ditch next to road by her house.

Told this before, but a when I was still at Whiskeyclone a guy dragged a cone up to I-75. Saw it the next day.
In a friend's subdivision there was a wooden box in the middle of the road. Big one too.
Two or three Friday mornings ago, a coworker and I saw a single sock in the parking lot at work. Gotta wonder how THAT got there.

I've seen a few socks around town, a few weeks back I found a pristine beer bottle cap in the parking lot at work (a call center) my boss reported it to security since the nearest liquor store is a few blocks away

I live kind of out in the country, so there are no sidewalks and I have to basically walk along the roadside. I've found a few interesting items during these walks.
*A 'Schoolhouse Rock' T-Shirt that was in good condition, despite some paint stains.
*A computer CD that said something like 'Cabo 2005 Tournament & Fish Tacos' (I'm still afraid to see what's on it, could be something illegal, disturbing, or both.)
*Broken action figures
*A working pedometer
*A Hello Kitty keychain purse, with a little sticky note pad inside.

That reminds me...it's about that time of the year when the VHS spiders start spinning their webs around here.

How do you not know your muffler just fell off?!
I just remembered this one; a few years ago a friend of mine asked me to crawl under her truck to check her muffler because on the drive home it got really loud as if there were a hole in it somewhere. I was happy to do so since she was pregnant at the time, but was a bit confuddled once I did since I couldn't locate the muffler...anywhere.
I looked a little more to see if it was placed somewhere weird before going inside and sheepishly asking where the muffler was and what it looked like. After some friendly comments about the worthlessness of my gender, she came out and inspected it herself (I helped her get to the ground) and was bewildered at the fact that there was indeed no muffler. I drove the section of interstate that she was on when this happened and didn't see anything in the road or on the shoulder, but apparently they can just fall out.

I was hit with a patio chair once. I was driving along just minding my own business and all of a sudden these two patio chairs fall out of the truck in front of me. Luckily I was far enough back that they didn't come flying through my windsheild. One did happen to hit the front of my car though.
I saw pants in the road on 95 one time. You have to wonder how those go there.

Oooh! Ooh!
I just remembered something really strange that you don't see every day!
I got to watch the front glass plate from an arcade machine come flying off the console it was attached to and hit the ground ahead of me and shatter into a bjillion sharp tiny glass shards!
Everybody's lucky that it decided to do that at a point where there was nobody anywhere near where it touched down.

Kinda similar, I was driving to work once when a piece of wood flew out of the truck in front of me. I had no where to go and the thing smacked into my windshield, hard. How it didn't crack or break I'll never know.
Also, I was once on 695 the Baltimore Beltway and there was a wheelbarrow in the right lane. That was fun to swerve around.
