ok, so i'm looking for a new roommate (my current roommate is moving out at the end of the month)... I already placed the ad and have several people interested... one of them is a friend who has gotten it in his head that he can rent out his condo for extra cash then live with me... I know this would probably not work because his condo is twice as large as mine, he lives alone, and he likes it that way... I cannot see him taking that drop in size... I also can't see him going from being the head of the household to the guy renting out a room.
He's a good friend and I don't want to risk that friendship by having him move in... and I don't really want to risk it by telling him no and having it come off the wrong way either...
so basically I'm between a rock and a hard place... any suggestions?

Maybe just tell him you don't like the idea of living with friends because you've heard too many horor stories about things going bad and don't want to risk it even if it's a small posibility?

I agree with the above poster. Or you can tell him that you were looking to rent only to women unless there was some kind of emergency. (Slap me if I'm wrong but isn't OP a woman?)

Now that I think about it, I guess wanting a woman room mate works out to SmileyEagle's advantage anyway. ;)

you must have called into my call center recently...
nope, not a woman... even if most of my callers think that I am... so I won't slap you 'cause I'm used to it by now.

have you ever lived with a woman you aren't dating... OMG nag nag nag... you should clean this and clean that, you need to iron more often, shave more often (ok, that is true) you need to use air fresheners and deodorizers...

Generally, I don't date women- but I did go to an all girls college for a little while. Talk about raging hormones there! To this day I only have 1 single female friend. The other 3 of my gal friends are married. ;)
And it's that way for a reason.

I've lived with guys I wasn't dating... Currently live with one I'm dating (if you could call it that....) and two I'm not dating (got a third roommate this week).
um... I'm the only one that irons (certain shirts) and rarely use air fresheners (no pets!) and I only get in the cleaning binge when I feel like it. I just have X wash dishes and I do basically everything else.
Because, you know, I'm weird.

Tell him exactly what you said in your post. Why make something up when the truth makes perfect sense?
