There's this new singer by the name of Duffy that I heard for the first time on VH-1 earlier this month. She's got a song called "Mercy" that caught my attention when I saw the video. So on the strength of that one song I went out & bought Duffy's CD "RockFerry" I listened to the entire CD today & it blew me away! I was like--->:super:
It's the BEST CD I've heard all year! It has that old fashioned feel to it. It'll remind you of Dusty Springfield. It's soothing & it's the kind of music that you'd listen to on a quiet Sunday afternoon.
I've heard her being compared to Amy Winehouse but that's not accurate. This CD blows away anything by Amy Winehouse.
Go out & buy this CD. I can't imagine anybody NOT liking this record.

She's good. I saw her on "Ellen" Friday. However the song she sang is the one that you hear everywhere, you know on TV shows, commercials, and movie trailers. It just seems that she's getting over played, which could turn some people off. I mean she's good but too much of a good thing can be bad.

"Hey, Duffy's 'Mercy' is on the radio again. Must be ten minutes since it was last played."

That's been said very often at work.

Strangely enough, I consider the song mildly irritating, but the amount of airtime it's had means it's now majorly hated.

I recently discovered Duffy too. I like the song Mercy, it has an awesome old Motown feel to it---definitely quality pop music. Although I can understand getting annoyed if it's played on the radio constantly.

Duffy is completely different than Amy Winehouse---she's got that sweet and innocent early 60's pop vibe going on---her music reminds me of Motown and Dusty Springfield and that whole era. Her music makes me want to dance.

Winehouse is completely different---she's more like Janis Joplin, all sadness and experience and an incredible amount of raw talent and soul. Her music breaks my heart to listen to, the same way reading a tragic novel does. She is not a pop star like Duffy, she is a muse.
