Last week, I was mowing the pasture and the riding mower kept dying on me. Nephew insists I must not have been driving it right because, you know, I'm female and all that and can't tell an exhaust pipe from a wind pipe

He tried it and got the same result. We bought a new spark plug, it made no difference. Dad spent about 5 hours Sunday trying to figure it out and got frustrated. He bought some sort of filter for it today, hoping for the love of all that was good that it would fix the problem. Whilst installing said filter, he examined the gas line and discovered half a dozen carpenter ant corpses stuck in there.

You have got to be kidding me.

Mower works just fine now!

About as bad as the time the little suckers infested the water pump and fried the connection so that we couldn't run any water.

Don't underestimate, I guess

That's weird since they usually make their homes in the wood frames of homes like termintes do, hence the name "Carpenter" ants.

He thinks they might have been in the gas container and we just poured them in when we gassed up the mower. Either that or they somehow ended up there when I was mowing the field, since we have a lot of old ant-infested stumps in there, but that's highly unlikely.

I woke up this morning and noticed one of my cats wasn't present for our usual morning ritual of "bug mom for food and attention". I start calling him and he wouldn't come.

Then I see him, he's chillin behind the blinds at the patio window. I call his name again and he moves the blinds so that only one eye was peering out at me (which is a reallly cute sight) and then goes back behind the blinds. So, I wander over there and open the blinds and see that he is completely entertained by a FUCKTON of ants!!!!!! I scold him because he should be killing them for me - my cats have one job - kill bugs - which they do fairly well...but not tiny little ants. No. There were so many!!! And there were several of the flying variety. I couldn't believe it. So,now I'm going to have to ask my landlord to go in there with some bug spray because I don't have any. I suppose I could buy some, but I'd kind of like it taken care of before I get home.
