My uncle Fred (my favorite uncle) died Friday afternoon.
He was an amazing man; former Marine, lifelong farmer, knew everyone, loved by everyone, opinionated, generous . . .
 Dammit, why do people have to die? (Okay, okay, rhetoical question, but damn!)

Sorry to hear that morgana. Fred sounds like he was a hell of a guy. I'd have liked to have met him.

I'm sorry for your loss. Your uncle sounds like quite the character, and a decent soul.

He had been not-well for a long time, had his first heart attack in '77 and did not take the care of himself that he should have. Still lasted to the age of 79. He'd been in the hospital about a week and been expected to get better. Then went into coma Wednesday night. He was taken off life support Friday at noon and died about the time I got off work.
See you later, Unka. Have a cigar on me.

Morgana,
Hugs to you and family - I think everyone has a cool uncle/aunt that has more stories than the rest of the family...and they're extra cool.
I"m sorry he's gone. Remember to celebrate the good stuff.
