I picked this one up from the Ultimate Guitar forums. Post the album you think is better than what is considered to be the band's "best" album.
For example, I much preferred "Nimrod" over Green Day's "Dookie".

I prefer just about any of Metallica's albums (excluding St. Anger, which I still haven't listened to all the way through) to the Black Album.
Which is odd. It has a ton of good songs that I can and do enjoy. I just can't stand Enter Sandman. Overplayed and it pisses me off when posers call it Enter the Sandman. :wtf:

I feel like I'm the only person who actually likes St. Anger. :(

Heart's self titled album is considered their best but to me "Passionworks" blows it out of the water.
In a lot of ways "Frontiers" by Journey is better than "Escape"

I'm one of those rare fans who likes all of Metallica's albums. I have each album - from Kill 'em All to St. Anger. While Black was their flagship album, I always thought Master of Puppets was the best. Has ...and Justice for All not been butchered post-production, it would be my favorite. I do listen to the Load/Reload songs quite a bit too when I'm in the mood for their newer stuff. I even have the S&M album they did in '99 :-D

~JoshI think their worst album is Justice. Simply because (as they have said themselves) "the songs are too fucking long". The only good tracks to me on that are Harvester of Sorrow and Blackened.
Also, the S&M album is great. I love their version of Ecstasy of Gold.

Everyone who is really into Led Zeppelin knows that Physical Graffiti is their best album.
But Led Zeppelin IV is the best selling album of all time. It's got Stairway on it.

Dark Side Of The Moon is usually considered Pink Floyd's best album, and although I do like it, I prefer Wish You Were Here.

Not much into the bands previously listed.
My favorite albums (of bands you've heard of):
Aerosmith - "Nine Lives" (mix of musical styles - just have to skip 'Pink'. Hate that song.) I have no idea what their 'best' album is according to most people. I like to think of this album as a shining moment before they sold their soul....Armageddon....*shudder*
Guns'n'Roses - "Use Your Illusion" (I like "Appetite for Destruction" too. Just not as well.)
matchbox 20(twenty) - This is tough. I really like the first three albums. (Their newest - eh. It's got a couple of good songs.) Most people I talk to strongly prefer "yourself or someone like you". I love that album....but I tend to think "mad season" is a better album. The writing's stronger, the songs are just..beautiful and powerful. "Rest Stop" "Bed of Lies" "Won't be Mine" It's a damn shame their best stuff never gets played on the radio.

I think the whole thing with Metallica is that they kinda fit any mood at this point in time. I mean to me Master of Puppets is their best album. After that there's times where I think and justice is good because I'm in the mood for those long songs. Other times I like ride the lightening, and then other times I'm into the black album.
The thing I will say about the black album is that it's what I call a driving album. I mean I don't always like doing car karaoke like this guy Me driving somedays (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lg3uRdpz9z0) So there's sometimes as use for albums like the black album. St Anger just ticks me off cause you hear them trying to sound like other bands, which ticks me off. And load and re-load.... well they're just that.

Which one, I or II?
@Becky: Lulz. Also, the most powerful subwoofers in the world won't find the bass on that album.

I'm not sure what would be considered Nine Inch Nails "best" album(most likely The Downward Spiral), but my favorite is Broken. I just get so AMPED when I listen to it. :D
Nothing Trent does pisses me off. Nothing, I say!
