I feel like I have been busting my hump for a very long time where I work and I am getting a little tired of working hard and not getting any credit for it or always getting reversed by the next person after I was told to the to do the exact opposite of what the person who reversed me did by someone at that same person's level. I'm getting irritated and am seriously wondering if I should ask my supervisor if I could switch projects at my call center but I'm concerned that that might mean a dock in my income. I keep looking for other jobs in the St. Louis area but I'm not finding much. Is there a tactful way to explain this to the higher-ups or should I stay silent?

It's a case of damned if you don't, damned if you do. Personally, I would bring it up. Maybe suggest that an written document is required for reversing another manager orders? That way you have documentation that you're just following orders.

Just word your request in a way that says something along the lines of you wanting to move laterally within the company to another project to further enhance your skills and experience. If your managers are good and care about their people they should be willing to find a way to keep you happy. At the same time, you might want to start searching for other opportunities if it seems like the current company is not where you want to be.

Well, I finally asked today. I wasn't able to give specific examples of reversals because I didn't want to be accused of breaking the rules and/ or get fired. I was also discouraged from switching projects but advised I could continue working on the one I'm on now. I just wish I could get the heck out of here. It's one thing for repetitiveness but it's like they're trying to combine all the factors to make it into one epic suck. After calls are done, I'm expected to do about 300 things in about 3 minutes. However, there are people who are calling me in 1 minute even though there are supposed to wait in 3 minutes and it is really starting to piss.me.off. I so wish I could just tell them, seriously, what is it you want? Do you want good quality where I can concentrate on helping the customers and do the 800 things you ask me, or do you want ridicously short handle time? I don't believe it's possible to do both. And with the economy the way it is, am I going to lose my job because I don't cheat and can't meet some of the more ridiculous goals.
My mother keeps asking me to ask for accounting positions, including at this job since I have a certificate (not a CPA) regarding accounting software, but I don't know if that would accomplish anything. I'm also wondering if I should just go in and ask, a night auditor position I've applied for 2 or 3 times and keeps getting listed in the paper at the same place, does this position even exist?

I am bumping this thread up because I am still searching for a different job and not having much luck. I thought my resume and cover letters have been pretty detailed but I have not gotten even a response to them. Am I doing something wrong, that might be common? It seems like the people I have to deal with are getting nastier than usual lately, as well. I really want out but can't just leave for financial reasons.
