Seriously, who stands on a bridge and throws big rocks at cars driving below? Now we have a huge crack on the left side of the windshield. If it had gone through instead of cracking it you could have KILLED MY DAD. Asshole.
I know this is short, but I can't think of anything else to say.

I hope you reported this to the police. We had a local kid go up on murder charges for killing a driver doing this exact thing. Another group of kids blinded a pastor when safty glass shredded his eyes. That shit is not a harmless prank.

Definitely.
Sorry, I should elaborate. My dad called the police as soon as it happened. He says if they have caught the guy, he didn't hear about it. :(

Unfortunately it's incredibly hard to catch someone doing this, your car is travelling upwards of 70m/h + you can't get a half decent description, by the time the (police) car gets there the kids will either have scarpered or there will be absolutely no evidence tying them to the offence as it's impossible to get prints off stone and with funds being cut left and right no Dept. will shell out DNA testing on something this unlikely to get a hit.
Catching them in the act is pretty much the only way of making it stick.

They have chicken-wire type stuff covering sides of most of our bridges here now because of that kind of thing happening. There are some that don't, but most of those are freeway bridges that pedestrians aren't allowed on anyway.

If you're Michael McGee Sr. (anybody from Milwaukee will know who I'm talking about), you blockade the Interstate with burning tires (http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9E0CE2DE103CF935A35752C1A9649582 60) and advocate tossing bricks at speeders.
Hope they catch that little shit who broke your windshield.

You are extremely lucky! I have heard of people being killed often from people doing that! There is something wrong with their Brains! Nearly all our over passes are now covered so no one can do it anymore!

There was a rash of those in my area back in the mid 90s. I don't think they ever caught them.

I'm for hurling rocks (big ones) at THEM.
Or tying a big rock to them and then chucking it into the nearest deep body of water.

I had a friend that was caught doing that. All I know from being told by his grandmother, is that he got sent to Juvie.

I don't understand why anyone would do that. Seriously. What the hell is wrong with you that you want to permenantly injure/kill random people without being able to really see the effects? If someone was a sadist and tortured people, that at least slightly makes sense in a disgusting, macabre way, but just doing it to people far away from you? I can't even see the logic there.

Hi. Sorry, I forgot about this thread today until now. Hopefully when they saw my dad stop, they got scared and ran off. I don't know how people can not realize how dangerous it is to throw rocks at cars. Maybe put a sign up saying "Throwing rocks at people can kill them, it is a joke to you, but murder to the police". Still, people shouldn't need a sign to realize that. :(
I feel for ya. The Juvenile Delinquent From Hell is back in the neighborhood. Must have been a good boy in Juvie and got out early. Last Friday afternoon I went out to have a smoke and the little shit was on the sidewalk by the mailboxes, throwing firecrackers at oncoming traffic. I sort of wished he'd blow his own hand off, but didn't get that lucky. Fortunately, this is a 25 mph limit residential area, and with the holiday weekend and everyone tending to go up north, he didn't have many victims, and the cars he threw them at, it didn't work.
His grandmother screamed at him and he went back inside. The next time I see him doing something like that, I'm calling the cops.

I've had a similar incident happen to me, I fortunately saw it coming and stopped short so now my driver side headlight has a nice crack in it.
I'm with all of you, I just can't fathom what makes people think this is a good idea.
I remember one time when I was young, I think maybe 5 or 6 years old a couple of friends of mine and I broke a bunch of glass bottles in the street. I remember our mom's ripping us new ones and making us sweep it all up

Moron Boy, the son of the hairdresser along the way, was in his teens when he discovered the joys of lurking by the nearby traffic lights and hurling snowballs at cars as they started to drive off.
He eventually got expelled from a private school (considering they pay to be there, that can take some doing) and ended up (oh, the shame of it!) at a state school. He made such a wonderful impression on his new chums that two weeks after arriving, his new friends jumped him as he got off the bus and dragged him - face down - across the road. It had been raining. A customer of another shop wanted the staff to phone the police, but they were too busy laughing, if that gives you any idea of how he treated them.
