Oh, sorry. Just celebrating here. Don't mind me.
Oh, WHY am I celebrating? Because after all the bullshit and heartache with Deadbeat (who still owes me a fucking hundred dollars) and after all the non-interest in our pretty cool vacant room in our awesomely cool apartment, we FINALLY have a new roommate.
Amusingly (and sadly for her) it is NOT the girl I've been talking to for the last couple weeks. It seems like she really needs a place, but she has never given me any firm date, any money, or even any firm commitment. So when someone else came along who could, sorry sweetheart, you seem like a nice girl, but I have to look out for Jester and Mr. Cranky.
And that someone came out of Left Field. Well, the Left Coast, anyway. California. No, not over the net or anything. When The Bar opened this morning (with me behind the bar, natch), a girl came in to talk to my boss for an interview. He hired her. I am training her tomorrow night. But as we were talking when she was waiting for Boss Man, she mentioned she was new to town, and that she was looking for a place to live.
http://www.spokanestreetracing.com/forums/images/smiles/5obsessed.gif I'm sorry. Can you repeat that? It sounded vaguely important!
But yeah, she was looking for a place to live, having just moved to KW from Cali, and she had had no luck so far. So I told her about my place and what she'd have (her own room in a 3br 2ba, dishwasher, washer/dryer, full use of the kitchen (except for one of my knife sets, but I have three), poolside apartment, AND a fully furnished bedroom). She said she'd love to look at it tonight. So I was pretty happy, pretty hopeful, and pretty excited, as she seemed like a cool, chill chick.
A little while later in the day, she came back with her parents and a couple friends, and we talked some more, and although she had not yet even seen the apartment, and it could be a dump for all she knew.....her dad whipped out his checkbook! And not only wrote me a check for the second half of July, but for August as well! http://www.spokanestreetracing.com/forums/images/smiles/eusa_dance.gif
Yeah, she could be a whacko.
Yeah, she could be unreliable.
Yeah, she could be a pain in the ass.
Yeah, a million things could go wrong.
But she seems okay, her rent is PAID until September 1 (already she is ahead of Deadbeat, who never once paid his rent or bills on time!), and really we had not found anyone else who expressed interest other than the one semi-flaky girl who had not been able to give me any kind of firm commitment.
This is the good news, which I needed today....considering what was wrong with my truck turned out to be fucked up calipers and rotors on the rear brakes, and that is going to run me $500 or so that I don't have. http://www.spokanestreetracing.com/forums/images/smiles/5zombie.gif
