I remember seeing on here a discusion about a grooming brush that was REALLY good for pulling out dead/shedded hair specially on dogs.
the comb in question, had a site with pictures of 30 gallon trashcans full of hair from just 1 dog. etc etc.
does anyone happen to know of anything that is tried and true?
a url would be great.
We need to get one for a full grown golden lab.
thank you in advance.

The only thread I can remember that vaguely had that was the one about hair and getting loose hair off human heads...which just happened to be a dog comb.
It does work on both hair and fur and does a wonderful job. The one I use (have three in the house, one for the cat, one for the dogs, and one for me) is Furminator (http://www.furminator.com/).
The link to the orginal thread (at least the one I'm thinking of) http://www.customerssuck.com/board/showthread.php?t=27860

Oh, Saydrah.....!
I don't know but Pablo has no hair (which doesn't stop him from shedding all over me...I don't know where it all comes from but everything I own has his fur, or the cats', on it, regardless of whether I've worn it around them recently or not...).
My cats are shorthairs but the girl sheds like a mofo.

Oh my gosh! I need one of those! Meeko is only 17 pounds but I swear I get enough hair out each week to make a whole new dog out of. And he still sheds. I keep the blazer I wear for church and job interviews hung in my closet with the door closed, and somehow, his kinky little hairs still manage to decorate it
Strider could use a good comb too. I honestly don't know where it all comes from sometimes.

Yes, that's the thread I was thinking of too. I use a basic dog brush called a Rake, that you can pick up at the local pet supply store for around 5 bucks. Works pretty well for me.
It seems to be quite normal for a human to shed a lot, particularly women.

Try having a longhair--Baxter sheds like mad. The last time I cleaned up the living room, I had enough furballs...that I could have almost knitted myself a third cat! He tends to lie around quite a bit, meaning his fur is all over the carpet, chairs, etc. Sally (the shorthair), on the other hand barely sheds at all.

How DO you guys do that?
You're probably thinking of the Furminator, as mentioned earlier; however Bamboo makes a cheaper one that's just as good, and the blades are interchangeable:

I like it even better than Furminator!
With either tool be sure to brush straight down so the blade is parallel to the ground, not front to back like with a regular brush. The blade is sharp and front-to-back combing with it could cut a pet.

Thanks everyone, the furminator was exactly what I was thinking of.
Now If we can just get my step sister to use this on her dog, all will be well.

*blinks* WOW, I'm thinking the kids could use this one. Amazingly enough, our long haired ones aren't bad.
It's Kitty who sheds like there is no tomorrow. We put 8 strips of duct tape (cheap stuff...doesn't stick well) down her back and managed to pull off a fur strip. *insert waxing cat jokes here* We're talking 40 year old virgin waxing strip look. I was STILL able to pull 5 more brush loads off of her afterwards.
This looks like a much better way to go!
