Picture the scene. Woman comes up to my till. She says her car is parked on pump 2. I tell her the total; it comes to about £60. She says "Yeah, thanks" and pays. Woman then goes to car parked at PUMP 12, and drives off. WTF? I check pump 12. The petrol on there comes to £20. Is this woman on drugs, ffs?! She just forked out an extra £40 for her petrol, and DIDN'T BLOODY WELL NOTICE!!! I am still in shock.

:jawdrop: That is just... well. I have no words. Reminds me of that scene from the original Blues Brothers film with Twiggy. How bad is this woman's money sense?

Woman then goes to car parked at PUMP 12, and drives off.

So how happy was the person who WAS on pump 2 when they walked in expecting to pay 60 and only had to pay 20? I know I'd be ecstatic!

Perhaps she has oodles of money and wanted to do a good deed for the day.

She probably just thought, "Flippin' petrol keeps going up. It only cost me £20 last time." :D

And she hasn't been back. O.o

So you made the guy only pay £20?
What if she comes back, does she get her £40 back?

In my experience, if/when this happens, we charge the second customer the right amount that they pumped, print reciepts for both transactions, and leave a note for the manager.
