Ok, please forgive me if this has been brought up before, or it's some new way of spelling, or some type of slang like "pwned" "pwnd" or however it's spelled.
Spelling incorrectly is a pet peeve of mine. Is "teh" just being misspelled all the time now? It really irks me to see it everywhere....it's not "teh." It's "the."
I also hate 'pwnd.' It's silly and I hate it. It's NOT a word, seriously. Grrr.
Again, forgive me...but I really had to rant.
And no, no one peed in my Cheerios this morning..... :p

Well, "pwned" is so far entrenched in Net Lingo that it's too late to stop it now.
As for "teh," well, that's a simply a common typing error, and I admit it's one I'm frequently guilty of.

"teh" is kind of like a form of LOLspeak (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=LOLspeak). I've been known to use it, but never in regular conversation, only if I'm being silly as in "(fictional character) is teh sex!" or maybe making fun of an SC - "You won't take my coupon, teh world is ending!!"
Also, it's a commonly misspelled word, at least when typed. But yeah, it's kind of like 'pwnd', in a round about way.

Pwned I'm fine with. I used it in every day life so it's just like any other word to me.
As for teh...meh. If it's a typo, fine. If not, why?

You use netspeak in real life? There's something wrong with you.

Pwn is a short hand of pawn. Which believe it or not, the word existed for a long time now. I've never had a problem with shorthand writing. l33t writing sure, but not short hand.
I've always use the word to mean "you're nothing but a pawn. Meant for sacrifice/slaughter."

I always thought "pwn" was an LOLspeak misspelling of "own" in the pejorative sense. Hence why people use it in the sense of "My Boss pwned that idiot!"

Here. Right here. Look at your keyboard. If you have a standard QWERTY layout, "P" and "O" are right next to each other. pwned started as computer geeks typing too fast and hitting the wrong letter. If you use it in real life, no one should know because it still is pronounced "Owned." If you say it like Poe-ned, expect people to roll their eyes and mutter "dilweed" under their breath. :D
It was a joke people. We were making fun of people who got so excited to post a reply to our little dial-up bulliten boards that they had typing spasms. I find it very entertaining to see people using it like all the cool kids, when the geeks started the thing.

That is exactly what I was trying to say, GK, the accidental misspelling of 'own' because p and o are next to each other on the keyboard, and then it was picked up by LOLspeakers. I just didn't say it very well. Thank you!

Different neck of the woods have different meanings for shorthands. Maybe I hanged out/chat with too many chess geeks.
If your neck of the woods used it as an typo for "own", then slap them silly.

You know, Fratching (www.fratching.com) has two different sections that this would go very well under (Things I Hate or Pop Culture) and people could really cut loose on it over there. Other people could then also present their side as to why they like/use the term.
Just something to think about.
