You said you always wanted to go to Maine?

Well, I have the next best thing. Here's a few pics of the Goose family's recent trip to Moosehead Lake in the northwoods (waaaay up there near Canada). Quite a haul from Murland, I can assure you.

This was the view from our front porch: Check out the clouds on Mount Kineo (across the lake) (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s299/Ifeltsry4u/Moosehead%202008/000_0138.jpg)

Another cloudy view: And yes, the weather was as cold as it looks! (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s299/Ifeltsry4u/Moosehead%202008/000_0140.jpg)

Finally....Some sun! (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s299/Ifeltsry4u/Moosehead%202008/000_0148.jpg)

My aunt, uncle, Mom and me stayed at this particular place because they allow dogs. (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s299/Ifeltsry4u/Moosehead%202008/101_0088.jpg)

But if you drive another NINE miles into the woods onto a private dirt road you will find the game preserve that my grandparents have been staying for 40+ years. The deer are tame and eat out of your hand. (http://s155.photobucket.com/albums/s299/Ifeltsry4u/Moosehead 2008/?action=view&current=000_0152.flv) They like salty things like potato chips.

Here's more pretty views: From a one-lane bridge on a dirt road (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s299/Ifeltsry4u/Moosehead%202008/101_0079.jpg)

Another porch one (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s299/Ifeltsry4u/Moosehead%202008/101_0038.jpg)

From one of the roads that's actually paved (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s299/Ifeltsry4u/Moosehead%202008/101_0018.jpg)

Here's more "fun" pics:

I don't think there's even 500 people in this town. (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s299/Ifeltsry4u/Moosehead%202008/101_0021.jpg)

Don't you wish OUR places of employment could have signs like this outside????! (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s299/Ifeltsry4u/Moosehead%202008/101_0008.jpg)

This sign cracked me up. I'm such a nerd. (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s299/Ifeltsry4u/Moosehead%202008/101_0090.jpg)

These cabins are pretty rustic. For me, at least. (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s299/Ifeltsry4u/Moosehead%202008/101_0056-1.jpg)

Moose are kind of a big deal. PLEASE don't click here if you aren't into hunting. (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s299/Ifeltsry4u/Moosehead%202008/101_0057.jpg)

Another pic NOT for the easily offended. (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s299/Ifeltsry4u/Moosehead%202008/101_0013-1.jpg)

The cabins were all named after cheesy songs. Here's ours. Please ignore the girl making an ass of herself with a piece of wood she thought looked like a scary mask. (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s299/Ifeltsry4u/Moosehead%202008/101_0033.jpg)

It was sooooo cold! It was even worse because the dog never wanted to cuddle with me. (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s299/Ifeltsry4u/Moosehead%202008/101_0037.jpg)

But the cabins are nice and cozy inside. My mom and grandma and I are living proof of that! (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s299/Ifeltsry4u/Moosehead%202008/101_0077-1.jpg)

So there you have it. A magical place where two hoodies and sweatpants under your jeans aren't nearly warm enough for September. A place where beer becomes "bee-yah" and you "pahk the cah" and everyone makes fun of your "southern drawl." Most importantly, it's a place where the Goose family can take their insane antics to a place 40 miles from the nearest hospital and grocery store. :p Thanks for your patience! Now back to your regularly scheduled life.

*sigh*

Now I'm really missing New England in the autumn. There's nothing like it.

And some of us *like* wearing all those layers. Snow on Columbus Day, thank you!

I miss New England. Born and reaised there, went to college at UMaine in Orono (just north of Bangor).

When you pass Old Town / Orono on route 95 you stop seeing towns and you see coordinates. Now entering: T2-R9

Wow, the climate is drastically different where you are, draggar :p

It was so hot and humid here yesterday that I kicked myself in the ass for complaining about the cold in Maine. Now I wanna go back....

I don't do cold well. At all. Hell, when I was in San Fran, and the temps dropped into the sixties and high fifties, I was freezing, and was bundled up in many, many layers. (2 t-shirts, sweatshirt, jacket, and gloves, for example.)

Maine? Winter? You would get a jester looking like this:
