My mom relayed me this one. Now, it wasn't the store's fault at all, but it was definitely a major SC sighting.

Her car was due for an oil change and tire rotation, so rather than go to the dealership and have 6 or 7 salesmen harp on her while it gets done, she went to a Sears Auto Center instead. She complained that it took a little over 3 hours. Why? EW-ism.

She had called the day before to set up an appointment but was told it was first come, first serve: no appointments. So the next day she pulls in 10 minutes before the store opens, and sees a couple get out of this obnoxious blue truck and try to race her to the door and get in first. Of course, he had no chance, as she had pulled in two spaces from the door and was therefore inside before them.

When she was inside the CSR on the floor asked which of them came in first. My mother said she was, Mr. Obnoxious (as we shall call him) yelps out that he was. Another CSR had seen my mother pull in first and decided her car would get worked on first. Mr. O didn't like this one bit. "This needs to be fixed now" "I'm a businessman" "You're costing me money" etc. Pretty much every single excuse card we've ever heard. This guy just didn't feel like he should have to wait.

Doesn't end there. He went so far as to go in back to the auto shop area, stand there, and belt out that his truck needs to be fixed RIGHT NOW. And he felt the need to do so every. 3. minutes. "FIX IT" "FIX IT" "FIT IT!"

The staff caved so he'd shut the hell up, pulled my mom's car out of the shop and told her she'd be delayed for a while. They just didn't tell her how long. So while she and a whole slew of customers who have come in sit in the lobby and wait, they can hear Mr. O yelling at them how he should have been first, he didn't have all day, you guys are wrong it needs this part, yadda yadda blah. Felt like his needs were far more important than anyone elses and they had better get this fixed or else.

3 hours later the obnoxious blue truck leaves (and there was much rejoicing). My mother asks if they fixed his truck after all that yelling about being first. Mechancic says nope, one of the bolts that needed to come out was seized and wouldn't budge, no matter what they did. Mr. O blew a gasket and bellowed he was going to another mechanic, he wasn't going to deal with them anymore, they've lost a customer, you get the gist.

My mother told me later she would have rather had the dealers harping at her for sales for a half hour rather than having to deal with that again. That says something.

Honestly, I would've reamed out the manager. If that guy was causing such a scene, he should've been invited to leave.

Not only did the customer suck, but management sucked there, too.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Why should they put him first just because he throws a fit??? Maybe the mother should have thrown a bigger fit and they would have put her first again???

I like my dealership. I go there for all maintenance and repairs, and the salesmen don't bother me at all.

And, OT, that manager should have told the twidiot to wait in line, just like he learned in kindergarten. And maybe added 'it obviously wasn't that long ago'.

I must agree with Marasbaras on this one.

Wait, Sears still exists?

Yes, but upper management there is doing their best to fix that little problem.

And this is why magazines put out articles urging people to be "persistent" and the readers become general pains in the ass to get their way at businesses.

Because every so often it works.

The mechanics should've told Mr. Obnoxious Blue Truck to piss off and wait his turn like a fucking grown-up.

Additionally, what reputable mechanic allows a customer to come barging into their shop over and over again? This is liability/lawsuit just waiting to happen.

I've had work done at Sears. I'm sure there are good shops out there, but I've only had problems each time I went there. Suddenly things don't work right or I find out later that something was done haphazardly. Not worth risking my money or my life, thank you.
