 yesterday for the first time sense moving to salt lake and having a steady job that I bounced a check

OK, so I bounced a few checks when I was living in Logan and only worked about half the time (if I was lucky)... but damnit those times were supposed to be behind me... and the worst part is that I had the money... I just wasn't keep track of where it was and wrote a check out of the wrong account. Thankfully sense both accounts are with the same bank they just transferred money from one to the other and charged $5 overdraft protection fee instead of the $30 returned check fee... but that still sucks that it is going to be reported on my credit now.

Can y'all tell that this has been one of those weeks?

Are bounced checks really reported on your credit even if you have overdraft protection and have your accounts linked together for that purpose? I did not know that. If so, it's can't be a very big hit, since you DID have the money and took the time beforehand to set up overdraft protection.

Don't feel too bad. I went on a road trip in early October last year and ended up with overdrafts of over $500! Couldn't be bothered to keep tabs on my account while having fun on vacation and didn't realize a deposit I was expecting hadn't been posted! I had the money, same thing, but it was in my savings account. I came home to lots of little white overdraft notices in the mailbox :( but I straightened it out and everything was fine. The teller at the bank giggled when I told her the story, though, and said she did something similar once.
