So the evil python who will not eat dead things has decided once again on feeding day that she is not hungry (snob). Good news is that I'm pretty sure that she has graduated to a size of rat that can eat on it's own. Can someone please tell me how old this one is?
Pictures are a little blurry. He is fuzzy and alert and his ears and eyes are open. He seems very interested in food but he has not eaten any yet. We have so far given him a carrot and a peice of broccoli. I will get actual rat food in the morning.

ETA: He is eating little pieces of Chex cereal.

He looks only a couple of months old at most. Maybe even just one month.
Try offering him some bread dipped in milk.
I noticed with mine that he needed a bit of time to get used to his surroundings before he started eating.

Thanks for your help!
He is eating...he's had broccoli, carrots, a slice of apple and a half of a grape. Oh and a few teeny pieces of Chex cereal. He's also found the water thing. I picked up some actual rat food from the store and he's been sniffing at it but I don't think he's eaten it yet.

Yeah it might take him a bit for him to start recognising that it is food.
Also you might want to try giving him dried banana slices every now and then, my rat loves them and they give him something solid to chew on.
My rat loves to clean my hands of food, mainly by oh so delicately nibbling on my fingers, he's thankfully learned that my fingers do not equal food, even when they have food on them, often I've fed him mash potatoes by holding out some on my finger for him.

I can't help you as I know nothing about rats, but I just wanted to say he's cute! I want to play :)

They get bigger quite fast, including its tail, mine goes from my elbow to the tips of my fingers, he's here now on my knee as I type

awwwwwww - he is a cutie. (or she) I have had the same issues when my boa was alive - wouldn't eat dead things. The very last one I bought ended up becoming a pet because the snake died before eating him. He was a great pet too.

He's about 3 weeks old. They wean at 4 weeks, so he's a little early there, but he should be fine. Get some soy baby formula from the grocery store and some Mazuri lab blocks from Petsmart. Soak the blocks in the baby formula and turn them into mush. Feed him that. If he won't eat it, give him the baby formula with a syringe and then soft human foods.

Thanks for the replies. He's eating like crazy and drinking. The vet said he's about 5 weeks old. We set up a cage for him and got him a friend and they've been playing and snuggling.
So now we have Remy (Remington- solid white) and Jack (Jackson- all white with a grey head).
Thank you again for the help!
