Well, everything is not set in stone just yet but it seems an extremely good possiblity that I will be returning to college. (I don't let myself get too excited about anything until it actually happens.)

When I left about 10 years ago I was 80 hours into a 120 hour degree. It seems that the last 10 years saw a lot of changes and now I only have 54 hours that count. I kind of expected that though.

Also, I am still registered with them under my OLD married name. Yuck.
I'm sure some of the ladies here can understand how much being called Mrs. Ex-Husband can make you cringe! I have to acquire some documents to fix that but it does not impede my return progress in any fashion. I just have to put up with being called by my old name for awhile.

Still, I'm in very good standing with the school and have nothing that will bar them from sending me an acceptance letter (that I know of right now).
I have found government assistance for returning to school- yes, hard to believe in this day and age- I know. I was a bit surprised myself.

Oh, and if you're interested my major is Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology. I think I'm going to change my minor to Sociology though. I was reading the catalog and thinking, "why did I want to do THIS? Bleh!". Guess I've changed a bit over the years.

Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Very cool, NightAngel! It'll give you something to look forward to, since you seem to not like being where you are too much. :o

Going back to school is HARD so I commend you for it! Go you!

NA,

That's awesome that you are going back to college!

In the time you have been away, have you given any thought as to what you actually want to do with your degree? Is it going to require you to stay on and get something more advanced? Not that it sounds like you would mind doing that.

Personally, I'm glad to hear that you are furthering your education. You're one of the members who I've consistently followed posts by for the last however many years. You strike me as pretty smart so I'm sure you'll be successful in whatever you choose to do.

Good luck.

Way to go Night Angel.
There is nothing better in life than education... I like what my grandma said (and what I've added).
There are only three things in life that you can't lose to circumstance (or have stolen), those are love, integrity, and your education.

After having a roommate that stole from me, my car broken into and a home invasion (damnit C, there is a reason I told you to always use the deadbolt) I truly appreciate the truth to that saying... I know what I learn at college is one of the few things that no two legged animal can steal from me (I refuse to even recognize the humanity of criminals)

My daughter just graduated under the 6 1/2 year plan - that's what happens when you wait until the last semester of your senior year to change your major.:D

Thanks for all the positive vibes guys- I've needed them recently. :)

In the time you have been away, have you given any thought as to what you actually want to do with your degree?

When I originally began the degree I was intent on joining the F.B.I. and would still like to do so. However, 35 used to be the cut off age for joining. One of the professors told me he thinks they have extended that but I am unsure.

If not, then I fully intend to become a Crime Scene Investigator.
No, I do not watch the show and it has nothing to do with my motives for becoming one. I simply find it all fascinating.

BTW:
Thanks GK. Appreciated. :)

Good luck! I look forward to going to college myself. I'm kinda scared of it though. I haven't been to a public school since third grade.

College is a whole different world than other types of public schools.

My experience with college has been nothing like HS or what you see in movies. Mostly, in my experience, college people have lives and more to worry about than what you're doing or wearing today. I'm sure there are 'cliques' but I've not really encountered them. But then, I go to learn- not to hang out, party, make friends, etc. The few friends I made in college were more working friendships than buddies. Of course, my college is in my hometown so I didn't need to make friends- I had friends already. Probably makes a difference.

As far as I know, I am seven classes from my degree at Arizona State....and I'm NEVER GOING BACK!

See, it would take a year out of my life, thousands of dollars, and my convincing my department that I really want to pursue the degree and a career in broadcasting.

Which I don't.

I got my education, had a blast, learned a lot, and don't really need a degree for any field I am planning on pursuing.

That being said, congratufuckinglations for going back! That is awesome! (Hey, not everyone's in my bizarre boat!) Give 'em hell. Especially that Dean Wormer asshole.....
