Isn't this just the way life goes sometimes?

We just recently moved (as most of you know). It's hard making new friends, getting used to a new place, etc.

My 8 year old was invited to come to a party tonight. He's been so excited and I was glad he had made a friend or two.

So, of course! He has been up all night with a stomach flu- vomiting.
Obviously, this means no school today and no party- only doctors and medicine.

Poor kid. :(

Personally I recommend ginger ale or apple juice :)

There will be more parties...Maybe when he's feeling better he could invite a few of the kids over for pizza and a movie or something.

Fixed that one for you.

At least he's young enough that he has plenty of time to make friends.

Better yet, mix the apple juice with Sprite/7-up. You get the vitamins from the juice and the tummy-calming effect from the bubbles from the soda. :D

He's 8. Girls are usually still icky at that age...

Oh, the poor baby. Apple Sauce is good for upset tummies and doesn't burn coming back up.

Thanks all.

Yeah, he's 8 and extremely picky about what he eats and drinks. Generally, strong stuff makes him involuntarily gag. I honestly doubt he'll ever drink beer or any type of alcohol unless this changes drastically later in his life.
I'm just glad when he gets his medicine down!

Speaking of...
He has a Sinus/Ear Infection and is getting 400MG of Amoxicillin three times a day in a lovely chewable tablet. Which apparently tastes terrible- but he's been a trooper and, with lots of water, managed to get them down.

That's a lot of antibiotics- but already he's SO much better! He's almost a whole different kid than this morning. :D

Kinda Gross but a Parental FYI:

He's also being treated for allergies now. I told the doctor that he's very prone to ear infections and that I was surprised that tubes have never been suggested.
The doctor said that they've found in recent years that kids who are prone to ear infections usually have underlying allergies with sinuses more prone to drain down the throat than out the front like most people.
Basically- you don't see the allergy symptoms until it's all stopped up in there and getting infected. When she said it- it made sense because his sinuses ARE more prone to draining backwards than forwards- so to speak.

These days they treat for allergies instead of putting tubes in the kid's ears. I know this must be extremely recent because it was only 6-7 years ago that one of my other kids had tubes in the ears.

I can tell already that the allergy medicine is a godsend as well.
