Actually I don't do photos. I burn plates though and it's nearly the same process and also has to be done in the dark.
So today, I heat up water in the coffemaker. But I forget to remove the cofee grounds.
On other occasions, I've put the clear (the image I'm burning) upside down, forgot to remove the plastic cover from the plate, and managed to break one of the bulbs in the machine. Oh that was fun. Since it was dark, I couldn't figure out what happened. At least I didnt' get blood anywhere.

At my last store, I was working with a new photo tech, and he was having trouble with the machine. Apparently, photos were sticking together when they came out of the processor (the rollers needed to be washed), and now there was an error that there was paper still in the processing racks.
Okiedokie. Let's have a little look-see. As I finish looking in the first rack (no photos) and I start lifting up the second rack, the new guy asks me, "Shouldn't we use the splash guard?"
I look at him for a second, and then I say, "Oh, hey, yeah. Splash guard. Good idea."
Long story short, I managed to contaminate three of the tanks. The head photo tech for the lab had to dump and remix all the chemicals for the machine (takes about 3 hours).
Seeing as how he had *just done this* as part of his 6-month maintenance EARLIER IN THE WEEK, he wasn't too happy.
Oops.
Oh, and btw, no photos. The machine was just being dumb. But as I love to say, "If it ain't broken, something's wrong."
