There is a cat currently burrowing in the fabric I'm trying to use. She is such a brat! She's adorable, but also a pest.

Today she decided to rise to a new level of destruction by jumping up into the windowsill. I don't know what she thought she'd accomplish, given that said windowsill is completely covered in plants. Whatever she meant to do, what she actually did was knock four of them over, making a huge mess of dirt and plant everywhere, and scaring herself half to death. And causing me to scream at her and threaten to kill her if I caught her.

But she is too cute to kill.

See? There is an adorable pest in this picture, can you spot her?

I'm sure you can see her now. So cute!

She's so flipping adorable! I actually made a costume of her. (Since making costumes is what I do. I periodically do personal projects which are basically a chance for me to advertise my skills and show off without being hampered by other people's designs.)

You can see lots more photos of it here: http://www.sparkcostumes.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=29
(I'm actually trying to sell it right now, to get some extra money for my wedding. :P Everybody loves it, but finding a customer who wants it and will fit it is a pain, I'm a bit on the short and skinny side.)

You just work at a bookstore, so you obviously know everything!

(I have a friend who is a librarian, with a degree in library science and everything. He knows very nearly everything, except that talking to him is kind of like talking to a textbook. He's rather dry. :P )

Hehe, the little brat. Cats do that because they know they can get away with it.

Nice costume, too!

Thanks!

She gets away with everything, the little pest. The other two are nearly as bad, but she's the worst of the lot! :D

That costume is awesome. I hate working with fake fur, but you make it look easy!

Well, I wouldn't say I know everything, but I do know where to find out! :D

Our cat Sebastian (Seabass) used to do the same thing - he's hide under a small space rug with his nose sticking out one end and his tail sticking out the other.

The funny thing is that he'd think he was hiding but it was so obvious. :)

BTW - you did a great job with the costume!

She's a cute little bugger!

My cat Fuzzy has also figured out windows = outside. At least she hasn't jumped up and knocked off the plants.

Why not sew up a tiny golf ball sized scrap, stuff it with stuffing & catnip, then let it sit in the catnip bag for a month? I'm sure that would be a welcome treat.

And you know you're never fully dressed if you don't have some cat hair on your clothing.

Between the fake fur and three cats, I don't think it's possible for me to not have hair on my clothing. :P

Weirdly enough I find working with fake fur to be ridiculously easy. It's very forgiving of certain mistakes, the fur pile hides them! I don't like working in non-fur fabrics, I feel like my seams are never perfect enough.

I had the same idea for halloween last year.

But I ran into a giant hurdle: I can't sew anything complicated, let alone make a decent cat-head.

:(

I also have no clue where to find the right fur for Patches.

Making a costume like that is quite a bit of a challenge. It's as much a matter of engineering and sculpting as it is sewing, really.

I can totally point you at some good fur fabrics though. :)
