As some of you may have seen in the "Get Togethers" section, I was at NorthEast Exotic Car Show this past Saturday. I brought the Greatest Customer's DeLorean with me.

To my surprise - and extreme frustration - none of the other members of the New England Club brought their cars, so this was the only DeLorean at the show - smallest turnout in 5 years (always at least two). Apparently the possibility of thunderstorms scared a lot of people off (the overall turnout for the show was fairly small).

Now, in the past, they've had enough DeLoreans show up to have a separate class (Class D), but they either switched things around this year, or did a last minute change of classes due to the small turnout. I didn't realize this until the they announced the winners. When they got to Class D, 2nd place was a Lamborghini Gallardo.

I thought "oh that's just great! I've been put up against the Lambos? Damn, I went from a shoe-in to 'no way to win!'" Terrific!

"1st Place in Category D.........Dave1982 [badly mispronounced] with a 1983 DeLorean DMC-12!!!" :jawdrop:

Wha----I beat a Lamborghini Gallardo?! I BEAT A LAMBORGHINI GALLARDO!!!!!!!!!! In a car worth 1/10 as much, and which is far from the best of shape!!!!!

I could NOT believe it!! Oh man, if I was the owner of that Gallardo I'd have been SUPER pissed!!!

SWEET! Congrats man.. there was a car show this past weekend in my area... don't know when there will be another one. Will the Greatest Customer Ever be bringing his beauty out towards the western part of the state?

I kinda doubt it, but I am considering your idea for a driving tour in the Berkshire's area for next year, so maybe then?

Sounds cool man.. if you need any help let me know. I can give you the areas to go by and to stay away from if you like your brakes.

Brakes are good. That's why I didn't make it a Mt Washington Road Rally (even though I think it'd be cool). I don't think the club members would appreciate having to overhaul their brakes afterwards. :p

Yeah.. Mohawk trail is great for the most part.. just make sure you stay away from the Berkshire's side of it... last time I did it.. my brakes were smoking for a while.. no damage though!

Thanks!

Best quote from the car show:

Random Guy: How....how'd you get the paint to look like this??????

Me: That's not paint....it's brushed stainless steel.

Guy: Really????? Whoa!!!

Obviously this guy never saw Back to the Future. "The way I see it, if you're going to build a time machine into a car why not do it with some style? Besides, the stainless steel construction made the flux dispersal--"

 at the random guy and congrats on the win!

I'm still in the process of getting my MG to "show-ready" condition. On the outside, the car looks pretty good. Fresh paint, new-ish chrome...spotless engine bay :D But, there are still jobs to do. The wheels could do with a clean and repaint, the bumpers need rechromed, and I still have to put the interior back in. But, once all that's done...next summer is gonna be awesome :D

Dave, I've gotta ask...Do you have a flux capacitor? and if so can you put up a pic:angel: Hubby will love it :D

Delorians are so cool, but you dont see many here in Oz. A few got imported after the BTTF films made them popular, but its been years since I've seen one.

Congrats on your trophey

I have a small (2 inch by 3 inch) flux capacitor, but the batteries are dead. And I have the Time Circuits on my iPod touch.

And the trophy stayed with the car when I returned it to the Greatest Customer.

Brand new never been driven Delorians are still available. They're expensive as heck but they're out there. My wife wanted one a few years ago and doing some research into available parts I came across the official DeLorian website and they have any part you might need to a whole car.

I love DeLoreans! I've always wanted to own one just to say I own one. Unfortunately, I have a rather long list of cars I would like to own someday...so unless I win the lottery it ain't happening.

I remember a few years ago there was one at the Daytona Turkey Rod Run...evidently it was one from the movie. It was for sale and the price was astronomical.

Good job on the car show win! :D

Believe me, I know.
