View Full Version : Is it a movie about a car or a snake?

The electronics department at J Mart got slammed last night. Not a bad thing when there's nothing to do but I was also working on a planogram that needed to be finished.

Customers. I have a few minor pet peeves.

How long are you going to stand at the counter before you realize I don't know you are there? I'm in the aisle working on the phones which is not directly in view of the counter. You move as quietly as a mouse and so I don't know that your there or that you want something. Mock-up displays all around me, a shopping cart full of product beside me that I need to arrange on the shelf and I can't see the counter. So unless the customer makes a lot of noise I have no idea they're even standing there and it might be a few minutes before I get up to check.

Do you,

A: let me know you're ready to check out?

B: Stand there for god knows how long waiting for someone to appear out of thin air?

If you chose A, please shop here regularly. But if you chose B, for the love of god, I can't read your farking mind. Call me over please, so that you aren't standing there the whole evening.

Mr. Hilton

Actually, no, I shouldn't be that mean. At least Paris actually shows up at the store before expecting a personal shopper.

It's really busy right now. I have a customer physically here in the store who is asking me a million and one questions about movies while her kids climb all over everything and loudly debate over whether or not they have Barbie Mariposa, or Barbie and the Three Musketeers.

I don't have time to look at every single TV and read you the specifications, which generally entails me putting you on hold and running back and forth between the phone and the TV's, while also trying to help the elderly woman and her 30 and 40year old "boys" who want to buy a bunch of Wii excessories and need me to unlock them. So if you could come on down and take a looksie yourself that would just be so sweet.

Last but not least:

I had this gentleman who was looking for two movies. The Hulk Vs. Wolverine (animated) and Viper.

The word "Viper" was written on his little list. The two boys, about thirteen I'd guess, that were with him appeared to be a little slow and they weren't very helpful when I asked what the movie was about.

Now, the only movie with the word "Viper" on the title, that we currently had on the shelf was a movie called "Vipers" with an "s". Some low budget creature flick about snakes that apparently kill people. I showed it to him.

Viper Guy:
Me:

VG: I don't know, they said "Viper". You don't have another movie called "Viper".
Me: Well, what it is it about?
VG: I don't know.
Me: *holds up "Vipers"*. Because this is the only movie here entitled Vipers.
VG: But it says "Viper" *shows me the list*
Me: Okay, is it about a car or about snakes? *thinking maybe they're looking for the series from the mid-90's"
VG: *turns to the boys* What's the movie about?
Boy 1: I don't know.
Boy 2: I don't know.
VG: *to me* Are you sure you don't have a movie called "Viper".
Me: Well, if it's not about a car than this is the only one about snakes and it's called "Vipers".

Finally VG decides to take a chance on it, under the assumption that his boys aren't interested in movies about a gray Dodge vehicle and knowing he can return it if it isn't the right one.

Bloody farking hell. The whole debate was over one letter! One fricken letter!

Heh, I had a similar customer to the Viper(s) guy once. This woman wanted a book; she and the title and author. I found the title,on the same subject, by an author with the same last name but a different first name. Of course it was the right book, she'd just written down the wrong first name.

This woman simply could not accept that she'd written down the wrong first name. She kept saying, "Are you SURE there's no authors with that first and last name?"

After twenty minutes (I even got the book to show her) she stalked off muttering how that couldn't be right, she would NEVER write down the wrong name.

Ooooh, what about people looking for 'a book by some author with a red cover.' Or a blue one. That's always fun! Though if it's about a certain dragon, that's a clue.

Clearly, the over-privileged little brats weren't all that interested in the movie about snakes, either, since they couldn't be bothered to figure out what the bloody thing was about before asking Daddy (or whoever he was) to get it for them.

Probably heard some of their friends talking about it and just wanted it so they could say they had it, too.

I remember that show. Its on DVD? I may have to find some. Put it next to A Team and Knight Rider, purely for the "Good guy always wins even thruogh convoluted plot twist" nostalgia.

That and it looked mean :D

I love Vipers. Not great mileage-wise, but they're gorgeous.

If you're concerned mileage, the parking spot occupied by a Viper is the wrong place to look. :p

(If someone gave me a Viper, especially the SRT-10 ACR, I'd sure as hell not refuse it, mileage or not! :D Even if insurance alone would kill me. )

Oh I know what you mean about the personal shopper guy. I have had so many people call places I work wanting to know information that I would have to run all over the place to get. By the time you get back to the phone they changed their mind, or have new questions.

Also I have never heard of this Viper show. However I was born in 1988 so I assume it was before or during my very early childhood.

You'd have been about 6 when it first aired. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0324452/)

(I'm not stalking you, honest. You just keep saying stuff I want to reply to as I'm catching up on what I missed from last time. :) )

There was a made for TV movie/pilot and then the show which I saw a few episodes of left and right when I was ten.

I don't know if it is on DVD or not, though it wouldn't surprise me to find it. I only threw it out there because the guy was so stumped on the plural and singular.

Although not a perfect source of info, TVShowsOnDVD.com says that neither the 1994 nor 1996 seasons are available on DVD.

I know what this is about.

They've been talking about it on entertainment news shows (infotainment?). They're going to make a movie about "Venom," a comic character--is he in the Spiderman series? Anyway, they haven't even started filming yet...

Also, there's a movie in the works called "Villians," from Viper Comics...so that might be it....

I mean, a kid could get this stuff confused, maybe.

Yes, he's a Spiderman villain. Eddie Brock was a rival of Peter Parker's who was possessed by an alien symbiote.

His secret weakness is loud noises.

Which is a really lame weakness.

Edit: And why would you go looking for a movie without any idea of what its about other than a title.

By the way, was it the right one?

As far as I know he never came back.

Hey, don't diss sonic attacks. You can do some nasty things to a person using different frequencies and volumes of sound.
