So my friend The Coolest Chick Ever took me out last night to--how to describe this? *deep breath*--a geisha drag show with a Japanese buffet charity event at a sushi restaurant grand reopening.

Got all that? Good.

To say the least, it was interesting. As many such things are in this town. But the food was...interesting. I heard they had masago spaghetti. Anyone who eats sushi knows that masago is a kind of roe, i.e. fish eggs. Yes. Fish eggs. With spaghetti. This could not be good. But ya know what? It was one of the best dishes there. And this is not an insult to the rest of the food....most of it was spectacular, and the masago spaghetti was eye-openingly awesome.

The drag show was, naturally, very entertaining, and for a good cause--though what, I'm still not sure. After all, I was throwing down the Kirin Ichibans (Japanese brand of beer) pretty liberally.

And then Chick and I went over to a nearby bar and played pool and drank more beer. Shockingly, against four people, including Chick, her husband, her friend, and some douchebag, I went 5-1 in pool. In darts, I beat Chick handily 3-0.

Dressed the way I was, and since the similarities have been mentioned to me before, I couldn't resist answering like this when Chick asked me what I was drinking: "I don't always drink beer, but when I do...I prefer Dos Equis." It was amusing.

What? Oh, the thread title? Chick is married. Did I not mention that her husband joined us at the second bar? But he is pretty much indifferent towards drag shows, and doesn't like most fish, and won't eat sushi at all. So I was her
"date."

Please, give me a little credit, people!

Actually I was wondering if I missed you telling us that Nurse Betty got married.

Heh. I'd no idea who started this thread, since I clicked in from the main page, so, for your delight, Jester, here's my thought process?

"Someone's dating a married woman? Bastard. Well, unless it was their own wife...some of the people here are funny enough to do that."
"Oh, Jester? Jester and his friend? Huh, wonder if one of his other friends accidentally hooked up with a married lady?"

*reaches end of post* "Oh, JESTER was the one with a date with a married woman. Oh."

So, yeah, when you said you were out with a friend, that sorta spoiled the effect you were going for :p

lol the moment i saw the title i immediately thought "so? i live with a married guy." (tail end of a divorce)

then i saw the poster and thought "hm...well okay then. makes sense."

and a geisha drag show sounds fabulous. i'm totally jealous.

i've decided that you should make your own commercial like the dos equis one. only for something completely random. like eggs.

Chick has a boring husband but at least you got the perks. :D

Isn't the Dos Equis man "the most interesting man in the world"? I love him.

Best. Commercials. Ever. :) Or at least in the top five. I always turn my radio up when I hear one, to see if it's a new one. :)

(actually though, come to think of it, the Real Men of Genius commercials probably make me laugh more)

Joi, have you heard "Real Otaku Heros" commercials yet? They're HILARIOUS.

Eggs? No. But I could see the commercial thing.

Trust me, hubby is not boring. One of the more interesting and amusing people I know. Just doesn't have all the same interests as Chick. And that's fine. They don't feel like they have to share everything, which is why they are such a good couple.

Isn't the Dos Equis man "the most interesting man in the world"?

Yes. Yes he is. Which is why, I think, that some of my bar regulars told me that that I am the younger version of him. I took it as a major compliment.

"He speaks French. With a Russian accent."

"He once had an awkward moment, just to see what it felt like."

Etc., etc., etc.

Did you know that you were chugging down Japanese Budweiser? Anheuser-Busch owns Kirin. Just thought you might like to know.

As for the show, sounds pretty damn cool.

Man Jester, I knew you were always good with the woman, but to snag even a married woman? Your like, a male version of Aphrodite!

Kidding bro: :)

I would love to know. Unfortunately, I could find nothing on the net to support your claim.

That being said, one brewery can own another one without having the owned brewery producing the owning brewery's beer. In other words, even if Anheuser-Busch owned Kirin--and I have seen no evidence to support this claim--that would not make Kirin Ichiban, or any other Kirin products, Budweiser, Japanese or otherwise.

Non-beer example: years ago Mercedes and Chrysler merged, or one bought the other, I'm not sure which...but they became one company. But Dodges did not suddenly become Mercedes Benzes. And I still won't buy a Dodge, because, honestly, it's still a Dodge.

Kirin Ichiban is as much the Japanese Budweiser as I am the American Morimoto. (Hint: I'm not.)

Meh, I took my wife's best friend out on a date a few months ago. Her husband had been working overseas for months, and she was lonely, and, you know what, this is sounding a lot worse than it was...

My wife was the one who decided that I needed to take her friend out. She's a Star Trek fan, and my wife most certainly isn't, so I was given the honour of taking her out to a gold-class showing of the latest Trek film. Fun night.

Well done, sir, well done!

Sounds like one hell of an evening, regardless of who you went home with at the end of the night, and it's got me itching for some sushi.

Plaid, I think Jester most definetly could snag a married woman, but something tells me his man card was not issued by the ninja-looter war college. :D

Could, yes. Would, no. Which is what I think Dispatch was saying.

indeed it is! I'd congratulate you on your ability to speak moron, but I suppose as a bar-tender this is something that you would need to communicate with a certain percentage of your clientele :)

As a bartender, I am fluent in moron, dipshit, asshole, loudmouth, redneck, fuckwad, douchebag, screwball, diva, self-important twat, pervert, and idiot. Still working on my translations of shitbag, tardinator, and Spring Break frat boy. Not sure if I'll ever get that last one down, though.
