This was from my coworker. Her job is to make the breakfast in the morning, clean up after guests, and take out the trash. One day a man waved her over.
"Come here."
So she went.
"No, closer."
So she went a bit closer. Then suddenly he grabbed her hand, and stuffed some money in it. She stammered a polite "thankyou" and then he grabbed her around the waist and kissed her. OMG!
She shoved him off and wrote it off as a crazy guest. A little bit later, she was taking out the trash and he told her to come over again. She said no. So he went over to her, and grabbed her by the front of her shirt and pushed it down! Then he put his hand in her bra. She had her hands full of trash, which she dropped and knock his hand off. Luckily another guest stopped him.
I think she ought to tell the GM about it, but she doesn't want to make a big deal of it and wants to forget it. Honestly, Just because it's V Day doesn't mean creeps can act like pervs and get away with it >: - ( I know where he would be if he had done that to me, in the hospital with ice on his groin. Then I would've been sued for assualt I'm sure. :\

Yes, she should talk to the GM, get the masher banned and press charges against him. What the hell did he think she was, a hooker?! Just because he gave her money doesn't mean she is, damn it. GAAAAHHHH!!!!

"Forgetting it," means that he gets another chance to do it to someone else and it might not stop at a kiss/grope. His ass needs to be cooling it in jail where the system can keep an eye on him.

It's called sexual assault and it's a crime that needs to be reported to the police.

Yep. Sexual assault. And, as a guest, don't you have his contact info on file?

I can understand not wanting to say anything, I got fired from a job for standing up to a creeper like this. Yes, it is sexual assault. No, nobody should have to put up with this behaviour from anyone, ever, for any reason. But I can't see the GM doing anything about it after the fact, except possibly warning other staff about the guest, advising housekeeping not to visit his room alone and I would imagine the staff had already done the rounds on that. I can't imagine most managers would have charges pressed against the guest, and many would not bother banning either. Hugs for your coworker (but only if she's okay with that)!

Screw the manager. Call the cops.

Screw the manager. Call the cops.

My opinion as well. If she loses her job over it, she can talk with the labor board in her area and see what legal options she has.

But really, it's sexual assault and that's a crime. Besides, if Creepy McCreeperson thinks he can get away with harrassing her, he could very well attempt it with another female as well - or several.

Nip it in the bud.

I agree, she should have called the police. It may be too late now though, as a court will ask why she didn't call right away, and that will likely ruin her case.

Not if you were defending yourself.

Nip it in him the buds.

YES!! The sooner, the better. The reason people think they can get away with that kind of behavior is because other people let them. Maybe if he's arrested for it this tine, there won't be a next time. If she does nothing, you can bet there will be. :(

Document, cops, and whatever crisis center exists in town who can give advice. It may not have been rape but it WAS sexual assault. Customer should be kicked out and banned AT A MINIMUM. Also charged with assault. Even if it goes nowhere there will be a report on file, which may help the next person he tries this on, because I'm damn sure there will be another.

Even if she doesn't want to officially report it, perhaps a sympathetic cop can come and have a .. word .. with him.

I agree. The male customer is a jerk.

She told me his name (he had told her his name she didn't know him) and I looked it up on our system, there was nothing. It was a foreign sounding name so probably he came from some backwaters country where women are seen as nothing more than servants and hookers. I've had a creepy guest throw some money at me before in hopes that I would go upstairs to his room and he apologized after I told my cw, who had some words with him. He said he was very drunk and remembered nothing of it, but he seemed ashamed. I said that's okay! In my best fake customer are always right voice. I just hoped that he would never stay again. He didnt I think he was too embarrassed.Anyway at least he didn't pull my shirt like this one did to my cw.
I told my cw, the one that got assaulted, to slap creeps that tried to grab her next time, she laughed and said alright. Maybe the creep gave her a fake name. Either way he's long gone to his country.

I'd rather be fired from a job that allowed sexual assault to occur without any sort of penalty to the groper. It'd make for an EPIC hostile workplace lawsuit!

If your co-worker is feeling brave, it would be worth making a complaint, either to management or to the police, so there is a record of this guy's behaviour. however, she might well be, justifiably, too freaked out.

When I was in college in Yorkshire many years ago (trust me, not "some backwaters country where women are seen as nothing more than servants and hookers"), we were warned by the tutors, who were passing on an alert from the local police, about a bloke in the nearby park who had been throwing money at the girls walking through the park to college, and then trying to drag them off into the bushes. The police knew who he was, and it was just a matter of time till they caught him at it/he tried it on with someone calm enough to give a good description, but in the meantime, we were advised to not walk though the park on our own. So no, please don't assume it's an uneducated/drunk forien guy.

When I worked at scout camp, we had a camper (maybe 15-16, and old enough to know better) say that he wanted to "rape" one of the kitchen staff girls  Naturally, when the rest of us found out about it, we always made sure that some of us were around when she was working. Nice girl, in fact.

Anyway, of course, when the higher-ups found out about it, they really didn't want to punish the guy. Mainly, because it was still a "he said/she said" situation. He hadn't done anything, other than make some crude comments. She was clearly afraid, since most of the camp is thickly wooded, and very dark and creepy at night. Naturally, we were pissed, and threatened to quit if he wasn't dealt with.

In the end, he was told to GTFO and never return. The higher-ups caved, because it was in the middle of the summer...and there was no way in hell they could get a replacement staff in time :D

But, the thing that scares me? If it had been the very beginning of summer, or the very end, would they have done anything?
:(
