View Full Version : The really weird poem song game

02-05-2009, 12:56 AM
So a friend of mine had me try this out on paper, and I thought it was really fun. So I figured it might be amusing for the people here at CS to try it out. You put your music player on shuffle and make a poem with the first lines of twenty songs. The twenty first song you listen to will be your title

So Title= 21

Break up the stanzas (verses) as you see fit, see if you can get the poem to flow. It ends up being really funny in the end. If you get an instrumental while you are playing, just skip it and go to the next one. This also applies to books and radio plays you may have in your play lists. Make as many poems as you like.

Here's mine

I want you to want me

When I found her she was waitin at the station door
My heart is beating from me
The minute you walked in the joint
So you sailed away
They didn't have you where I come from

Christmas, Christmas Time is near
So what, am I not s'pposed to have an opinion?

Baby Light a couple candles
Like every tree stands on it's own

I get up on Sunday 'bout 8:15
I can make anybody pretty
I can't get out of bed today

Dear, Dear Diary I want to tell my secrets
In my dreams I break the chains that hold this place together
I feel Good
A poor orphan girl named Maria
Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you
Everyone tells you that the minute you get married

We're supposed to start work down on the river today

As you can see this one isn't very cohesive. Luck of the Draw.

Anyway, try it out. And don't cheat.

Jealous Again

It's hot tonight, lonely black or white
Last night I saw that beauty queen
Stacy's mom has got it going on

Well I'm on the Downeaster Alexa
Why do I have to fly over every turn, up and down the line?
Muskrat, muskrat, candlelight
I never knew there'd come a day, when I'd be saying to you

A turning tide, lovers at a great divide
Awake on my airplane, awake on my airplane
I walk along the avenue
I never meant to be so bad to you
We're talking away

No matter what you are
You are an obsession
Guess I got what I deserve
Try to see it my way

I've never seen you look like this without a reason
Look up on the wall, there on the floor
You got me runnin' baby
I'm on my way, I'm making it

Thanks to Billy Idol, Seether, Fountains of Wayne, Billy Joel, Keane (twice), Captain and Tenille, 38 Special, Filter, A Flock Of Seagulls, Asia, A-Ha, Badfinger (twice), Animotion, The Beatles, Big Country, Genesis, Billy Squier, Peter Gabriel and the Black Crowes for...this.

At least it makes sense, in fits and starts.

Hello I know there's someone out there

Everybody dance now

I'm so numb therefore I can't relate
Everytime I'm telling secrets I remember how it used to be
I'm not your boyfriend baby, I ain't your cute little sex toy

Every friday night, there's a steady cloud of dust
Watch out sister watch out brother
my stupid mouth has got me in trouble
when I was just a little baby boy my mama used to tell me these crazy things

I don't practice santeria, I ain't got no crystal ball
You talk to me like we connect, but I don't even know if we're still friends
run and tell all of the angels, this could take all night
sell me candy, like the summer like it's melting in my hand
if I could turn the page

hello mr heartache, I've been expecting you
we were together, I was blown away
there were times I knew, but I found it hard to say
actions are left behind, never to change the signal

oh mama look what I've done
let's go away for awhile
the window burns to light the way back home

Here's mine...

Adoramus Te

Pater Noster qui es in caelis
I'm gonna take my baby on a little joyride
Now truly am I King of the World

O Thou who camest from above
When you ask how I've been here without you,
Stacy's mom has got it going on
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
Up the street beside the red neon light
Who's that whispering in the trees

Well, I got a little boogie but it ain't too clean

All we've got is this moment
Away with our sorry and care
I woke up this morning feeling kinda blue
Momma, I've got two strong hands

One night, a long time ago, two lovers danced to an old radio
No eye had seen, no ear had heard
I'm far away from what I've known

A lady was walking on a midsummer's day
I feel cold facing the darkness

Saints and children, we are gathered here to hear the sacred story.

I'll tell you the tale of the wicked soldier

What's it gonna be, 'cause I can't pretend

I was once a plain little bird like you, kid
Back when we started, we didn't know how hard it was

All my people in the crowd, grab a partner, take it down

Someone is crying, just now I heard them
You gave up the love you got and that is that
Try not to think, try to behave, try not to think

She got out of town, on a railway New York bound
Looking back on when I was a little nappy-headed boy
Sappy pathetic little me, that was the girl I used to be
As I fall to sleep, will you comfort me?

Baby, do you understand me now?
Lovechild of Genghis Khan and a beautiful busty Amazon
Who do you think you are barging in on me and my guitar?
Never thought I'd want it, never thought I'd need it, never thought I'd want somebody like you

Oh, Mrs. O, will you tell us where the naughty children go?
Your eyes, when we said our goodbyes, can't get them out of my mind
If someone stood up in a crowd and raised his voice up way out loud
I used to think that I could not go on

Czolgosz, working man, born in the middle of Michigan

I like it!

There are Jews in the World and there are Buddhists

God, make me an instrument of your peace.
I hurt myself today.
Well, me father often told me when I was just a lad.
Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry.
There are nine million bicycles in Beijing.

Hey, you! You lost your only friend.
I feel hypnotized.
I look straight in the window.
Midnights in winter.
I'll wait for you till I turn blue.

I saw you outside.
In the merry month of June.
Oh the churchbells are ringin' in the schoolyard.
I am a lineman for the county.
Blue, blue caravan.
If I never feel you in my arms again.
I love Paris in the springtime.
What will we do with a drunken sailor?
Never know how much I love you.
Well, a scotsman clad in kilt left the bar one evening fair.

How Can I Be Sure

City life
Another suburban family morning
Just look at the comfort that you call your home
Every night I say a prayer

Outside the rain begins
I don't need an umbrella
Lady you came across the water

You see the world through your cynical eye
You would say anything
Hide in your shell

Who is this child that I've never seen before
I can see you in the morning when you go to school
Cherish is a word I use to describe
Passing by you light up my darkest skies
Slow down some
Come ride with me

Marvin walked into a helpless land
Feel the darkness smiling
Declare this an emergency
Falling away

Man it was tough putting this together into something that wasn't completely random, and when I finally did I think I got a story about a creepy woman kidnapping a kid named Marvin. :headscratch:

I could be loud man, I could be silent

Step one: you say we need to talk
I have climbed the highest mountains

I live in an apartment on the 99th floor of my block
Well I just heard the news today
I'm a rolling thunder, a pouring rain
We'll do it all
Don't think sorry's easily said

Star lit skies
Come out, Virginia. Don't let me wait
Always on the outside always looking in
All day
I am unwritten

You've got your ball
Are you going to scarborough fair?
In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina
When I think back on all the crap I learned in high school

Test tubes and Tesla coils,
On the road again
She says she's no good

In And Out Of Love

Maybe I'm not your favorite
Did you ever see the concrete stares of everyday
The time has come around

Uncle Vernon, uncle Vernon
Oh, some people don't like you to talk like that
Let's drink to the hard workin' people
And the wise man said, "I don't wanna hear your voice"

Mercenary battalions

Oh, the night that Paddy Murphy died
You didn't know what you were lookin' for
I'm fuckin' sick of you
I come home late at night

You can't quit until you try
She's my only true love
Eleven saintly shrouded men
You left Billy with the kid

Work ourselves' fingers to the bone
Laura calls me in the middle of the night
I bought a Porsche and I'm leavin' Grand Rapids

Summer's comin, time to dream the day away

Sentimental days,
free, free, set them free,
will you accept a collect call from Robert Plant?
it's funny how it tears me apart
baby it don't matter, anyone can see the signs

shake ya ass, show me what you working with
ooh yeah
I peeped inside the other day
this is not about age
I try to believe what I feel these days

Fell in love with a girl
I was born in Little Rock, had a childhood sweetheart,
she says her love for me would never die,
Busty co-eds live live live
well every time I feel you're coming round, you're going down

Lying all alone and restless, unable to lose this image
you'll remember me when the west wind moves
in the time of chimpanzees, i was a monkey
overcome by your moving temple
we're victims of sedition on an open sea

C'est Pas Comme Ca

Lucky you were born that far away so
Oh, Nick please not so quick

I don't have a perfect smile
You entered my life unexpectedly*

I'm not the guy who care about love

There's a kind of emptiness that can fill you
In a room full of people hangin on one person's breath

There's somebody I'm longing to see
It seems like

Clock in you're at work but you're not working so hard

We've finally got it all out in the open
Young and with no clue

It's always perfect, always safe
You let me violate you

Something in the way she moves

However you feel
You want to know where we go from here

We don't need no education
I love you the best

Come on, here we go again motherf*cker

Wow, mine came out not half bad, actually :)

It's a marvelous night for a moondance

Every time I look at you I go blind
I can't escape this hell
Well I hope that I don't fall in love with you

I'm standin' on the bridge
A strangled smile fell from your face
Something in me, dark and sticky
Don't let 'em get where they're going to
I am colorblind

In this farewell, there's no blood, there's no alibi
You can go to the East to find your, your inner hemisphere
Someone's always coming around here, trailing some new kill
I realized as I lay down to sleep, we haven't spoke in weeks

Welcome monsieur, sit yourself down
Love is tragic, love is bold
There you are in the early light of day
The way you're bathed in light reminds me of that night
Yeah I heard the news
I don't like to be alone in the night
Christmas bells are ringing
Light up a cigarette, she said, and calm the f*** down

I told my roomie about this and she did one too. She gave me permission to post it:

Iíve Tried So Many Times

You know this boogie is for real
all the leaves are brown
oh lord,wonít you buy me
did you think theyíd part the seas for you like Moses
I had a roof overhead
she got out of town
Iím coming up
situation number 1
I wrote a goodbye note in lipstick on your arm
talk to me, tell me your name
this ainít a song for the broken hearted
your construction
woke up to the sound of pouring rain
I feel stupid - but I know it wonít last for long
hello I love you
I wanna run
landing on a runway in Chicago
regrets are all you left on your lipstick stains
my heart ticks in beat with these kids I grew up with
highway run

Man it was tough putting this together into something that wasn't completely random, and when I finally did I think I got a story about a creepy woman kidnapping a kid named Marvin. :headscratch:

You didn't mess with the order did you. The poem you got was from in order from 1-20, correct. Because the first few Stanza seem a little too well put together

Of course, taking the lines and reordering them to make more sense would also make for an interesting game.

I misunderstood "break up the stanzas (verses) as you see fit, see if you can get the poem to flow" to mean "sort the lines into some sort of meaningful order." Actually, that sounded like fun and was the main reason I took the challenge. :D Sorry, I gotta stop posting so late at night.

Hold me close, don't let me go.

Unemployment at a record high

Close your eyes
Saturday night
Ooh ooh ooh Ms Grace

Yeah I, I get to know your name
If you're going to San Francisco

We're no strangers to love
By the rivers of Babylon
When the going gets tough
Ooh, precious moments

Mister, your eyes are full of hesitation
I don't want a perfect love affair
Magic moments

So long boy, you can take my place
If you hate me after all I say

Sugar, ah honey honey

Young girl, get out of my mind

Heaven, I'm in heaven

Hearts gone astray

We're leaving together

02-07-2009, 07:31 PM
It's never ganna be normal, you and me

You can be my alphabet and I will be your calculator
So if you're lonely, you know I'm here waiting for you
Monster, monster feeding

Too orthodox, I can't control my feelings
I can't remember 1989
You don't know me

Line up crooked my eyes straight up at the sun
Lips are turning blue
I was staring out the window the whole time he was talking to me
What you did to me made me see myself something different

I'm sitting on a citadel
Change everything you are and everything you were

There's a big beat, you're spinning in my TV
I drew a sound from the belly of the well
Does it go from east to west

There's a spaceman in my basement
One, two boys by the river
Venus was a flytrap, the man you loved devoured
Mother sings a lulluby to her child
Dreamt last night of sirens

2 Weeks Away

Nobody else here baby
Yeah, I am the astro-creep
Reluctantly crouched at the starting line

Light a candle for the sinners, set the world on fire
This is sick
You got a body like the devil
Love is a fire
Well she was an american girl

I'm a one way motorway
Some people call me the space cowboy
When I look into your eyes

Brother bought a coconut, bought it for a dime
We chase misprinted lies

Words are flowing out like rain into a paper cup
I just want you close
This time taking it away

I'm the man, I'm the king, I'm the one
You didn't think we could do it again?
I'm going to tell you something you dont want to hear
She'd do anything to sparkle in his eye

1-Dido 2-U2 3- Rob Zombie 4-cake
5-Marilyn manson 6-janet jackson 7-Kid Rock 8-Manson (again) 9-tom petty

13- harry nillson 14- Alice in chains
15- beatles 16- alicia keys 17 ?
18 Soil- 19 kayne west 20- little goodbyes 21- vanessa carlton

( I miscounted and ended up with 21, but I like the last line, so :P )

This looks like fun! Here we go!

Day Late Friend

Write down, to remind yourself on how it can be, how it can be
How does it feel to treat me like you do
The lights go out and I can't be saved
I close my eyes and I smile

Not that you're the one
Ura said there plainly seems to be
I should warn you
Everybody's got a Water Buffalo

Memories consume
Catch me as I fall
Got up early, found something's missing
If you're blue and you don't know where to go to

No sleep
Now time has come to hate
I'm lyin' here on the floor where you left me

Make his fight on the hill in the early day
I am a question to the world
My Soul feels empty
I'm thinking of my soul's sovereignty

Uh, wow. That started out depressing, then went nonsensical, then went nonsensical!depressing.

02-21-2009, 03:04 PM

It's alright. We still love.

Do to my addiction to this game I'm going to play again! YAY!

Hey Dad look at me

I came in as the sun came up
Blackbird sing your mournful song
Did you hear? Did you hear?
Well I don't know why I came here tonight

I can't remember when you weren't there
We couldn't stay on the tailgate
When you're the best of friends

When ever I see someone less fortunate than I

The sun is shining
Now that you're out of my life I'm so much better

Dear, Dear Diary I want to tell my secrets
It's Impossible, It's impossible to love you
You always had a way with words
My sister and I had an act that couldn't flop

They say it's a man's world
In the morning when you wake up
My mother said there's only one way
Tell me lies, Slap me on the face
I got no regret right now
When I go to sleep I pray

This turned really dark. I think it's a story about two people going from best friends into an abusive relationship. Though I guess the voice of the poem got out.
