I work from home. This becomes somewhat...troublesome around this time of year, since I receive all the packages that are being shipped to our house, including ones that my husband has ordered for me for Christmas. I am usually very good about not snooping at all when I get a package with his name on it; I look directly at the recipient name, and if it's his, I put it on his desk without shaking the box or looking further at the shipping label to see who it's from.

Well, I got a package with his name on it today, so I put it on his computer chair. A little while later, Pluto, our mischievous little boy, jumped up onto the chair and knocked the package over (it's relatively small.) I heard a cascading noise and was concerned that something broke, so I picked the package up to put it on my husband's desk, and heard the noise again. This time I recognized it, a sound any gamer would recognize.

Dice.

I asked my husband about it and when I explained what happened, he exclaimed, "Pluto is a bad cat and is trying to ruin Christmas!"

I    'ed hard.

He's not trying to ruin it, he's trying to help you.

Ah kitty's first Christmas. Brings back memories. Growing up in the '70's our kitten (to be tactful and euphemistic) reverse-engineered a satin ball ornament. The thread extended the length of the house several times. I'm sure George had a blast doing that.

I've had both kitties attempt to 'unwrap' gifts well before Christmas. Something about the way the paper smells, or crinkles when they step on it...has them ripping off the bows, and peeking inside. And no, it's *never* on one of their gifts

My cat is fine around Christmas, but our dog is another story. My sisters dog loves to open gifts and he would open any gift he sees wrapped, so we have to keep them hidden.

I'm glad my dog is really good about this sort of thing. He LOVES unwrapping gifts and shredding stuffed animals...but only the ones we explicitly give him! He is a good puppy and I'm proud of him.

My parent's cat was scared of wrapping paper, and she was an outdoor cat anyways (until they moved to 'Bama; now she stays indoors and has grown fat).

Yep and that's by giving a big hint on what the Christmas gift (s) could be in that box. ;)

My cats, surprisingly enough, have never gotten into the presents or the ornaments. They'll get under the tree but they just get comfy and chill out under there.

Though boycat was on top of the entertainment center last week and he looked like he was contemplating jumping into the tree for a few seconds there...
