Can anyone recommend any good video editing software?

What kind of editing do you need to do? Really basic 'cut the video here' or full on DVD menus, fade effects, etc.

If your on a Windows machine, you should have Windows Movie Maker, which is really basic (as in limited things to do). Then again you could splash out four Adobe Premiere Elements which has alot of features, but unless you have a powerful machine, will take a while to do anything.

I don't know many video editing applications, I don't really do that much myself. But if you give us more info/requirements someone here may know something :)

If you only need to make one video, elements has a free 30 day trial..so you can try that. If it is for something longer..or something reoccuring, find a friend who is a student, get a great discount on it. If you can afford it. Wish I had other suggestions, but do not have much info on video editing things.

Google fu lead me to this http://www.desktop-video-guide.com/top-5-free-video-editing-software-review.html ..might give you some starting points. Of course most reviews are biased, but can come in handy for a starting point.

Adobe After Effects? Its insanely awesome....but of course...pretty expensive. Student discount though, makes it super crazy affordable.
