  • Celebrating with rum....and here's why....

    I'M GOING HOME!!!!

Yes, it's a brief visit to AZ for my stepsister's birthday in early October (the care center okayed her for a road trip to the parents' home that day, after much finagling from my older sister...say what you will about her, and I often do, and she usually warrants it, but MAN can that woman get shit done!), but it will be my first trip to the desert in a year and a half, and my first real trip out of the Keys in almost that long. (Not counting my very quick two day road trip to Lauderdale with my friend Little Red next week.)

I'm going home. I am a happy Jester.

Now I just need to figure out how and when I can make this same announcement as a permanent one. *sigh*

Oh, by the way, in case you missed it....

    I'm going home!

So your sister is better? That's great.
                Congratulations on both.

Better in some ways, not in others. She'll be going to the parents' house, but driven there in a van by the care center, can only stay a couple hours, and will be in her wheel chair the whole time.

There have been some improvements, and there are some treatments coming up that may help more in various ways, but there are still serious issues.

But it will be good for her to get out of the care center, be in some more homey surroundings, and be around some familiar faces. It will be her, our parents, myself, and my older sister. Her brother may be able to come out from the Northeast, but maybe not. Lil Sis won't be able to make it, as the flights from England are anything but cheap. And due to various commitments, my older sister's boyfriend won't be able to make it, which is a shame, as he's an old friend of my stepsister's--she actually set him up with my sister a while back.

Bit it'll be good to get home, to see her, to see the parents, etc. It's been too long.
