  • Is anyone else thinking about Halloween?

    Because I am.
For work I'm going to be dressed up as Death Star Receptionist. I'm going to buy a Death Star Officers cap (assuming I can find one when I get the money), find a military-like blazer, and the rest should be fairly simple. I'll probably wear a pencil skirt with tall boots, but I'm trying to make the skirt look more Imperial like. Maybe some Imperial patches?
I'm also going to attempt to decorate the lobby with some Star Wars decorations. I think I'll bring the Storm Trooper helmet or one of our Tie Fighters to display on my desk.

    I LOVE HALLOWEEN!!!!

I usually have an adult party but circumstances this year arent allowing me to. That being said, Im still decorating for it!!

I love the decorations and the air and the candy and the leaves.

    Cant wait!!

Your costume idea sounds good. Dont forget pics.

Gotta figure out where I'll be first. Could be in New Jersey, could be in Texas, could be somewhere else. Who knows? I don't.

I'd prefer to do costumes with a group.

This will be the first year we haven't planned or had a party. Due to the impending divorce and selling of the house we haven't even thought about it.
I am so SO glad I was not present for this. There would have been an unpleasant duct tape incident. - Joi

I have my first decoration already. but then that goes with the territory when adopting a black cat. Thanks for reminding me, I need to buy the candy...I hope the World's Finest Outlet still has clearance bags.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

Halloween is my favorite holiday! I'm either going to be a Weeping Angel or a female version of Carlos the Scientist from Welcome to Night Vale.

I have no idea what I'm going to be, maybe a giant pumpkin or something I'm not feeling very creative this year.

I don't have much money to burn on Halloween costumes, so I might go as a cat again this year. Also, I love being a cat.

Not really going to do much for Halloween, but I already have my fall/Halloween decor out and ready to be put up. I will dress up, as usual, for the kids when they come to the door.
Eh, one day I'll have something useful here. Until then, have a cookie or two.

                    You too?

I've been searching online for new ideas, buying magazines with Halloween stuff in them, ordered Halloween-themed pendants for jewelry, and checking the stores for Halloween goodies. We don't get trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood but we'll probably get some candy anyway , definitely going to decorate.

I'm not specifically thinking of Hallowe'en, but I am digging fall. I bought some pumpkin butter tonight. I may make some next week.

I doubt I'll be allowed to dress up at work (Halloween falls on one of my regular shift days).

If we are allowed to dress up, I'm going to do my work uniform with a twist. Basically our uniform is a blue shirt, black pants, black shoes, hair up etc.
I plan on buying a cheap blue polo shirt (not the company ones ) and cheap trackpants, tearing them up in various places, then getting a cheap pair of canvas sneakers and covering them in dirt and fake blood, then messing my hair up a little. In short, I am your friendly neighbourhood zombie childcare worker

If we aren't allowed to dress up at work, I'll probably end up wearing devil horns to work.

Sadly most of my costume ideas are NSFW. (doubly so since I'm working with children)

The only good thing that my Bitch from Hell manager from a few years back did was allow us to dress up all of Halloween week. For most people, that meant getting to dress up on a different day if they didn't work on Halloween. For me, it meant I got to wear five different costumes to work.

The first day I wore my Starbucks costume: a homemade starbucks apron over my regular uniform of black polo and jeans. She did not find it amusing. at. all. Everybody else thought it was brilliant. Later in the week I was a pirate, a jedi, and the crow (nostalgia!)

The final one was a zombie, and the reviews were delightfully disgusting. I do a great zombie makeup. All the kids who saw me thought I was great. Only one customer had a stick up her butt about it. She didn't SAY anything, just primly held something in front of her kids face the whole time so she couldn't see me. Lady, your kid is like six or seven. I might look gross, but it's the middle of the day, and I'm behind a counter. Unless she has some actual zombie related violence in her past, I'm not likely to traumatize her. (I believe there were some other kids who thought I was scary, but their parents dealt with them the way you SHOULD for halloween. "ooo, look at THAT! isn't she scary?")

Then ms CBF proceeded to through a bitchfit over the fact that our bogo for the day didn't work the way she wanted it to.

This year I'm gonna be a pretty princess! Cuz I've been a zombie more often than not the last few years (last year i didn't get to dress up at all) and I haven't been a princess since I was a little girl.
My webcomic is called Sidekick Girl. Val's job is kinda like retail, except instead of corporate's dumb policies, it's the Hero Agency, and the SC's are trying to take over the world.

I don't usually do much for Halloween. I don't know what kind of traffic we normally get for trick or treating around here since Halloween pretty much got cancelled last year because of Superstorm Sandy. Don't really dress up for work (we did in the stores but not the distribution center), though I usually wear black that day.

Though...speaking of Halloween...I saw a maternity tshirt earlier that says "No, I didn't steal a pumpkin"

When I still worked at the wholesale club, they would let some of us dress up on Halloween, until a few years back when Corporate put the kibosh on it. One year I dressed as Neo from the Matrix, the following year, as a priest. Then there was the year I dressed as a convict (orange jumpsuit), and after that, I stuck to wearing lucha masks I'd bought at Chikara events.

I would also, if I had the evening off on Halloween, hand out candy with said lucha masks on. Some of them got some good screams (or at least the one of Frightmare did), but it was somewhat depressing when I'd wear the mask to hand out the candy, and the kids would go "Cool Rey Mysterio mask!" Sigh.

The best Halloween candy-handing-out outfit I wore was the two years I wore a hooded black robe with the face-obscuring cloth in front of the hood. I wore all black underneath it (including gloves) and stood on our front porch, and did not move. It creeped the hell out of people, and even heard some say "It's just a statue--" which is when I'd bend to pick up the candy basket.

ETA: If I can get Halloween off (even if I just swap with a coworker), I'll probably go for a Wyatt Family sheep mask and maybe something suitably serial killer-ish looking to wear.
