  • Halloween in the ER

It's 2 hours into Halloween and already have a drunk Vampire and a nauseous Angel. Will keep you updated as events warrant. I'm also working tomorrow night.

I wonder if the angel is pregnant? That would be ironic.

        I'm jealous - you've actually met Pyotr (from Callahan's)?

The night ended with more drunks. Sadly, none in costume. Im in again tonight and am hoping for at least a clown or two.

Also, the vampire sobered up (eventually) and apologized for threatening to drink everyone's blood and having his vampire friends kill the ER staff.

Ah, but did you have any staff in costume?

One of my prior ERs let me work Halloween in costume One year I went as an elven ranger. Another year I did a steampunk mad scientist. As long as I could work without the costume getting in the way, my manager was cool with it.

              The kids loved it

My whole family - Thoth, Hathor and I - would LOVE a mad scientist nurse.

We werent allowed to have costumes But I had permission to wear my poison apple headband.

Apparently, there used to be a costume allowance for Halloween night until someone had to tell someone their loved one had died and was dressed like a clown... (This may be an urban legand, but a few swear its true..)

Halloween was filled with lots of zombies and vampire, and random generic clothing with fake blood. Which confused some staff as they would enter a room to assess the patient only to find the visitor covered in "blood".

Overall, night was uneventful, but was at least candy filled.

Ouch. I can see where that would be a problem.

The solution is to bring a spare pair of scrubs to change into to deliver news like that.

Of course, I didn't wear any make up with my costumes.
