  • Ganging up on the Cashier

Went to Rite Aid to grab some tums since I ran out. Grabbed a coupe other items then got in line. Two women at the front of the line were together. They had two toys and some other stuff. While ringing the stuff up, the old women flipped out on the poor kid for the price one rung up at. They claimed all toys were half-off as the ad says. He asked for the specific ad and when they pointed it out, he read, "All Christmas toys half-off". There was a large section of Christmas toys and the thing they were complaining about clearly wasn't from that section. They finally decided to not buy it after bitching the cashier out some more. Then the other toy they chose didn't ring up 1/2 off. The specific item wasn't 1/2 off, it was buy one/get one free. They started causing a scene.

The young woman behind them seemed annoyed at the SCs but the old woman in front of me started bitching out the cashier for taking too long. She started complaining that "Some of us need to go to church" to which I replied "The churches I went to always preached patience in respect but I guess yours doesn't." This seems to be a problem with me thinking outloud these days but I don't care anymore. People need to be told to shut up now and then. The kid running the register managed not to laugh to his credit.

This is why I try to avoid stores as much as possible.

THIS would have set me off in a hurry. Patience is a cardinal virtue regardless of of your faith. His/her church DOES teach this, assuming of course that the individual in question really WAS on his/her way to church. And the fact that churches DO teach these virtues does not mean that all the congregation listens - for some, church is just something they do by rote rather than an actual practice of their faith, just so that they can tell themselves and others how 'devout' they are.

I'm not bashing religion - just those who don't practice the concepts they claim to cherish, or worse, use those concepts to rationalize their own sins.

Okay, I think that's enough of my own Sunday Soapbox Sermon for now.
