Saw this at the checkout line last night. Brand new, super duper, giant fancy supermarket opened on my route home. I'm thrilled because its my store of choice, and if i take a different route home, its still on my way.
They also sell alcohol, but if the cashier is underage, they have to get someone else to ring that for them. So lady in front of me has a bottle of wine, so cashier follows protocol, and calls for someone to ring. It didn't take more than 2 mintues but customer in front had all sorts of helpful suggestions! She did ask how she would know so she could avoid this in the future; cashier told her which color tag to look for. Then she said to cashier, a HS kid, "you might want to suggest they have designated lanes for booze purchase" And repeated a couple of times.
How about you go suggest that to CS or management? cashier can't do a darn thing about it; its COMPANY policy. Manager comes, rings, and all is well. Then she asks for cash back, in certain denominations. Cashier gives it to her, cust. stops and claims she didn't get her five $1s, but only a $5. Cashier said no, i gave it to you, cust. insisted no, cashier again calls for help. In th meantime, cust. exclaims "OH, here it is, it fell somewhere" no apology, nothing. I felt bad for the cashier as she was doing her job the way it was supposed to be done. But some people are just never happy.
