  • Getting screamed at in the toy department

So my co-worker who is always getting the worst of the worst customers, the one I've mentioned in recent posts, was working in toys yesterday. A lady comes up and asks where an item was and she told her that it should be in crafts. She had heard the woman who works in the home department say before that the item is in crafts. Mind you crafts is right beside toys so the woman only had to walk a few steps over to check it out. Apparently it wasn't there because the customer marched back over to my co-worker and started literally SCREAMING at the top of her lungs at her.

"IT WAS NOT THERE!! WHY YOU WASTE MY TIME!!! YOU KNOW WHERE NOTHING IS!!! YOU LIED!!!! HOW COULD YOU WASTE MY TIME LIKE THAT??!!"

Then she stomped off before my co-worker could even get in a word edgewise.

Meanwhile, songs about "peace on earth" and "the hap-happiest season of all" are playing overhead. Ah, gives you a warm fuzzy feeling, doesn't it?

Wow. Asshole factor off the scale.

What's with all these customers going on and on about 'wasting their time'? What the hell is so special about THEIR time?
When you start at zero, everything's progress.

Sounds like your co-worker ruined a Christmas. I'm jealous.

I feel for your co-worker. When I was at the discount store I was always the one the rude customers gravitated to. It was incredibly frustrating and made me question myself and my customer service skills. But then again, I've always been an easy target. And sometimes, it's just unfair. I always tried my best.

Rude woman was rude and sounds like she thinks she's all that. How dare her PRECIOUS time be wasted like thst!!!

Besides the toy department, I found that working in the seasonal department is also a way to ruin Christmases. At least, one Christmas was ruined because the metal ornament hooks were completely sold out by Thanksgiving, and that was the last shipment for the year. One of the retail stores I've worked at was one of the stores that started the trend of being open on Thanksgiving.
