  • Happy Solstice!

She who can love both sun and moon,
joyful in both seed and bloom,
sound and silence, dark and light,
has nothing to fear from the long winter's night.

Darkness, take flight! Earth dreams of light...
    Fire burn hot and bright
on the longest night of the year!*

My best wishes to everyone on CS for an easy winter. The weather may not always be the greatest, but remember...Spring is coming!

My wife had to work, so we didn't get to celebrate too much. I baked cookies, lit some candles, and tried to watch the sun rise. Didn't make it. Darn it, the one my insomnia night isn't working. Still, blessed be on the new day and the returning of the sun.

Thank you thank you! That's beautiful! My mom accepted us as pagans even though she was Christian herself. She found beauty in our rituals (attended a number of them with us!) and we found comfort in hers.

        I miss my mom.

          Happy Solstice and Happy Yule!

Spent yesterday at Avebury and glad to see a new year on the horizon and the love and joy it is set to bring. May all your new years be wonderful!

Not terribly crazy about winter solstice. The short days are very short (sunrise 8AM, sunset 4 PM, not fun) and it's safe to say that if you live here you suffer from S.A.D. in SOME fashion.

Ironically Winter Solstice celebrates the return of the sun for longer times each day - that is the main reason for it.

As someone who does struggle with less light I do get your point though.

I didn't get a chance to wish a happy solstice, y'all. I'm a christian, BTW. I acknowledge the holiday because I, too, am happy about the return of the sun.
