So, I am having a WONDERFUL christmas break from college....been sick most of it, add in a mild staph infection on my face...and this damn cough/chest congestion that won't stop....
Good news is, I passed ALL my classes....just a C+ in US history which I'm not overly worried about.
Better news is, I've been at my parents house helping them work on inventory for their websites, and in exchange they are buying my books for the spring semester, plus giving me gas money for the times I drive down and stay a few days.
INCREDIBLE news....is that i stopped for gas on the way home this past thursday, at the same gas station I tend to stop at on the way out of town and chat with the cashiers who know me pretty well at this point. I bought a couple of scratch tickets while pumping gas, and the cashier tried to talk me out of it since she said "I just sold a $30 winner off that roll not 5 minutes ago."
My gut told me to go ahead anyway....and since there were other people in the store lining up behind me, I stepped away from the counter......scratched off the tickets....won a free ticket.....and $3000!
I walked back up to the counter shaking, and asked if i could hug the cashier...she looked at me funny not entirely sure I was serious....then I showed her the ticket said I knew she couldn't cash it out (state law says i must go to the district office for amounts over $599), and asked again if I could hug her....she walked out and i gave her a HUGE hug.....found out when she was working again....and thanked her immensely.
I have a christmas card with $200 cash in it for her, and plan on dropping it off tomorrrow on my way past there, since i know she will be working....I know people always claim if they hit it big they'll pay some of it forward....but this winning was the difference of me not able to give christmas presents....to getting something nice for everyone in my family, catching up my bills, putting a good chunk into savings, and buying a new dragon statue for myself....
I hope the $200 for her makes a small change that comes from unexpected income, and in a good way.
