Has anybody out there managed to create an account on the "Obamacare" website? I have a friend who has been working on this for weeks ... she keeps getting the same error message: "The USER ID you created may already be in use." (Given the usernames she's come up with, this is extremely doubtful) and "The email address you entered may be used with another account."

Now, she has come up with some truly bizarre usernames (she told me a few) which could not possibly, outside of some Twilight Zone episode, be in use by somebody else. AND she created an email account specifically for this.

She has sent a couple of emails asking for help and says she has never received a response. She'd prefer not to go the phone route (although she has also tried that) because apparently this can suck up hours of your time with nothing to show for it (not sure if that means they couldn't help her ... or she couldn't even get through).

This truly is a case of "I'm asking for a friend" -- I'm Canadian and SO FAR we still have semi-socialized medicine up here ...

But if anybody's got any advice, I'll be happy to pass it along. You can PM me if you'd prefer.

    Thanks!

I've had problems with the website, but that was before they fixed the glitches, officially anyway. There are still a lot of glitches.

I'd use the phone or find a navigator to help you. The navigators have a lot of luck helping people, especially figuring out the folks who qualify for Medicaid even in states that don't have their own exchange.
They say that God only gives us what we can handle. Apparently, God thinks I'm a bad ass.

I succeeded in making an account, but after making it initially, every time I try to log in, I get error messages too. Thankfully I only wanted to look around and get an idea as to what was offered, not because I need insurance, as we get a good deal through hubby's employer.

I've applied twice. First time after I applied it said I wasn't eligible!! That didn't make any kind of sense to me seeing as how the media has said you couldn't be turned down but I was!! So then I got rid of my first application & applied a 2nd time. It said I was approved BUT I had to mail in proof of income & I was like "I'm not mailing in anything!!" Nothing was ever said that when you applied that you had to send in proof of anything! So I discarded this application too.
Now, should I apply for a 3rd time?? I feel like I'm wasting my time.

That was pretty much my experience, as I was looking to compare what was available vs. what I currently get through my workplace.

As it turned out, I got a message after using the questionnaire that I didn't qualify to purchase through the exchange b /c I get coverage through work. Even though I received a letter stating that I qualified for subsidized coverage.

Haven't been back to the site since and ended up keeping my existing coverage for $15.00 more per pay period.
