  • Dungeons and Dragons DM question...

I've finally upgraded my life enough to hook my laptop up to the TV to play things through....now I want to do this for maps for my D&D game.

I have the master map, but i need something to put up for my players that exposes areas as they find them, rather then seeing areas over a large area so i don't have to draw one each time.

Guess what this ramble boils down to, is i am in need of a program or something to put maps up on the TV through my laptop, to show them maps a little at a time.
It is by snark alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of the coffee bean that thoughts acquire 'tude, the lips acquire mouthiness, the glares become a warning.

If you use something like GIMP or Photoshop, you can put the master map on one layer, and then have a layer above it that is black. Then, while staying on the black layer, erase the areas as they are found.

Alternatively, I have heard MapTools and MasterPlan can do what you want. Not sure how easy/hard it would be. I have no experience with either.

I also found DungeonPilot which sounds like it might do exactly what you want. Again, no experience with it, though.

Check out Roll20 or Maptool. If I recall correctly, both support Fog of War and GM/Client views.

Oh, hell. I forgot about Roll20. Good catch.
