  • How do people come up with such NASTY drinks?!

Customers never cease to amaze me with gross drinks! A woman came in and asked for a venti iced extra caramel, made with whipping cream (not half and half), 7 equal caramel macchiato, with whipped cream on top. Then of course there's your regular venti iced chai with vanilla, made with soymilk and absolutely no ice. Who in their right mind would want to drink something so foul? Blech! Ah well, at least they're usually nice about having tons of modifiers in their drinks.

Call me weird but I love the smell of coffee. I love coffee flavored candy and coffee flavored ice cream. However I hate coffee I only tolerate mochas as long as I can't can't taste the coffee part. Go figure

That's not too uncommon, I like the smell of coffee but HATE it.

I hear Stephen King, when he goes to town meetings, gets the coffee for them, makes it himself, but never drinks it. I guess he's the same way. We're in good company.

Drinking 2 cups of heavy cream.... gross. When I worked in a coffee store I had a few customers who would order drinks with heavy cream, as they were on Atkins. But at least they knew enough to get plain lattes and not ruin the low carb thing with syrup and caramel.

Could you possibly get more fat and sugar into liquid form? Ewwwwww!

I would be kind of worried if someone made me coffee but wouldn't drink it themselves... sounds kinda fishy to me

I used to not be able to stand the smell of coffe or the taste of it or anything.. made me gag.. now I crave it all the time... weird.

I would really be worried if Stephen King made me coffee and didn't drink any himself.

Then of course there's your regular venti iced chai with vanilla, made with soymilk and absolutely no ice. .

Hmm can't understand why that one is so gross..... I used to do that - well not add the vanilla, but I kept the ice out b/c it waters down the drink (also requested no water for hot chai too - why the crap they have that in the recipe I don't understand - it just waters it down - blech).

As for nasty drinks - i can top that. I once had a woman order a venti latte that she wanted us to blend in the blender. She also added honey and brought in some chocolate powder that we added (later I learned I shouldn't have done that but it looked like some protein powder or something), and I think we added like 2 packets of Splenda. I saved a bit in the bottom of the blender to taste this concoction - it was the nastiest thing ever. I think it was in my mouth 2 seconds before I spit it out.... blech!!! That was the weirdest one I ever got though.....

I also never understood making the drinks w/ heavy whipping cream or w/ half & half as the "milk". I don't care if it is Atkins - that sounds disgusting and come on - do you KNOW how much fat is in that? Blech.

Oh btw - I hated coffee when I was there too - I liked mochas, lattes, chai, tea, etc.... but I would not drink the regular coffee. Actually after awhile the taste of espresso made me nauseous. I drink coffee now b/c I've found it's the only thing that really helps me wake up in the morning (i have sleep apnea). But I don't drink it on any morning I don't have to be up early b/c I still don't like it......

Howard Schulz became a very rich man by noticing how pleasant Italian espresso bars were, and transmogriphying the idea into Starbucks.

In Italy, the patrons mostly drink espresso or cappucino. Maybe have a biscotti.

Here, it's all about the sugar and fat. I don't go to Starbucks very often but the one nearest my office is always caught flat-footed when I order an espresso "for here". It's supposed to be served in a little ceramic cup. They have to scramble to find one of those cups. I'm sure other places have more espresso drinkers but apparently not this one.

I'm also one of the rare folks not having a huge fat, sweet pastry with their drink. Reminds me of the saying "I'm glad someone invented the word 'muffin' or I'd have to say I had cake for breakfast..."
Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the restraints...

Well, I'm not a coffee drinker, or a alcohol drinker, so I've had to create my own interesting drinks

The best was the one I came up with at music camp, in the cafeteria.

Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Orange pop, Dr. Pepper, Mt. Dew, 7-up, apple juice, orange juice, fruit punch, grapefruit juice, chocolate milk, 2% milk, and skim milk.

                    I highly recommened it

You think you get gross orders for drinks at a coffee place? You should try bartending some time, my friend. Some of the things people come up with to drink are truly horrific. My "favorite" common horrible drink is a "strawberry daiquiri on the rocks." Now, I am not a big fan of frozen drinks as a whole, but these drinks are SUPPOSED to be frozen, damn it! And that is just the beginning of the Gross Cocktail Parade.

In camp as kids, we used to do something similar, i.e., they would make a drink out of a little bit of EVERYTHING in the fountain. We had a name for it, too, and I don't think the name was coincidental. We called these things SUICIDES!

Don't forget the classics, a cement mixer is the most disgusting drink ever! Baileys and limejuice. mmmmmm just feel the cream curdle in your mouth.

I used to be disgusted... Now I'm just amused

I freely admit that one of my favourite drinks is considered by many to be gross. It's equal parts Orange Juice and Coke/Pepsi. It's DELICIOUS

Mind my language, but a 'gross drink' that is rather tasty is called the Blow Job shot. It's amaretto with baileys and whipped cream on top.

Unfortunately, whipped cream hitting an alcohol filled stomach? That's what makes it gross. The barf-factor.
