Has anyone here ever seen the whole thing? Layne Staley's and Jerry Cantrell's performances were powerful.

Unfortunately, the AIC episode was also one of the saddest. The entire show had a slightly sad and downcast feel to it, as if Layne and his bandmates already knew that neither Layne nor the band would be much longer for this earth. When doing their haunting renditions of their hit songs "Brother" and "Nutshell", Layne looks tormented, and both him and Jerry look like they're about to cry.

Layne looks really weak and sickly, and he wasn't even at his worst yet. It would be nearly five years later that his runaway heroin addiction would finally kill him, after spending the last few years of his life a virtual recluse.

I hope that wherever Layne's spirit is at now, he's finally found peace.

I watched the original broadcast, roughly a thousand years ago (back when Mtv still played music). Very powerful, very moving.
