Fragging friend of ours is now officially PATIENT ZERO. He had an eye infection.

Bast stayed at his place. Got an eye infection.

We've been washing hands, she's been careful what she touched, no direct contact between us, just the inevitable indirect from living in the same house.

    Now I have it.

No advice really needed: just sympathy. We have the medical supplies, and bought alcohol gel for each computer station.

Fragging patient zero contagious bloody .... gah.

    3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
    4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

Ugh that sucks. And it's one of those where the response is "I'll be very supportive of you, over there, far away" and you can't really hate the person over it.

    So I'll be supporting you
    Over there
    Far away

        Guh I hate that!

We have parents dropping off sick kids at school and we can't refuse them unless they 1) have a fever over 101F and/or 2) throw up at school. Even when we call mom/dad most of the time they still come at regular pick up time, leaving the kids to suffer at school all day.

And guess who's had cough/sniffles/general achy-ness for 2 going on 3 weeks now? Grrrr.

Maybe snuggle with a quilt and a furbaby? That always makes me feel better.

Add me to the list of "will be supporting you from far, far away!"

Seriously though, that sucks. Many virtual hugs.
At the conclusion of an Irish wedding, the priest said "Everybody please hug the person who has made your life worth living. The bartender was nearly crushed to death.

I've had that, only mine was caused by a pin touching my eye (don't ask). Not sure if it would have been contagious, but it was definitely painful and irritating as hell. You have my sympathy!

The white of my eye is currently the brilliant-red of my eye. And it's swollen almost completely shut.

Going back to the doctor in the morning.

Got a different med to put in my eyes.

And the doctor wanted to know the source of the issue, since it's now clearly a resistant and contagious infection.

Bast and I are in voluntary quarantine, as is Patient Zero. And his rabbits, which are the apparent source.
Well, the rabbits aren't in voluntary quarantine, exactly, but if they could understand they probably would agree.

The pinkeye still hasn't gone away.

Today I took myself (including the Eye of Sauron) to the doctor AGAIN. The doctor took swabs and has sent them to pathology. Then he sent me to the optometrist.

Optometrist took me in as an emergency patient. Checked on what I had, checked the records. Did numerous eye tests on me, and examined both my eyes rather thoroughly.

                  Good news:
                  * It's not infecting the cornea.
                  * It's not spread to the other eye.
                  * Other than the excess tears, it's not affecting my vision. (IE, I am almost constantly getting tears blurring the vision, but if I can blink them away I can read the eye chart normally-for-me.)
                  * Almost all conjunctivitis (pinkeye) naturally resolves in 10-14 days, and it's already been ten.

                  Bad news:
                  * until the path tests come back, we don't know what it is.
                  * I could be having an allergic reaction to something in the eyedrops, possibly even something common to the eyedrops.

                  Next steps:
                  * wait for the path results.
                  * INTENSIVE optic hygeine: I have an eyelid cleanser, a 'tears' type eyedrop, and a broad spectrum antibiotic. I use all three, every two hours while awake. For sleeping, I cover the eye with a sterile-until-used eyepad.
                  * if anything goes bad, discontinue the antibiotic until I can see the doctor or optometrist. (urgent visit)
                  * see an opthalmologist if it doesn't clear up completely in four days, or sooner depending on the path results.

                    I CAN READ!

My eyes have both (mostly) settled, and the infected eye is down to looking like an allergy day, instead of hideously 'eye of sauron'.

and best of all, I CAN READ!

So glad to hear it's getting better! It's just as frustrating as a bad ear infection.

                        Thanks, Foodlady.

I'm sure you can all imagine what a RELIEF it is for me. Especially the 'not constantly hurting like hell' part.
