  • Anyone want to take this idea and run with it?

On a recent shopping trip to the mall I was accosted with a credit card offer at darn near every store I chose to shop at. I'm sitting here looking at 8 different CC applications, all to different stores. And those were only the ones that would give me an application, ostensibly so I could read the fine print.

Some of em were darn persistent, though I didn't crack.

    Did get grumpy, though.

Here's the idea. Start a campaign, Facebook, Kickstarter, Indigogo or otherwise, and have people send these applications to the President of the Company.

The campaign would print envelopes with some sort of slogans, etc. essentially trying to raise notice just how annoying the damn "wannacard, wannacard, wannacard?" gets to be.

Other ideas on actions, publicity, etc can apply, just got the germ of the idea and decided to check if the domain name that popped into my head was available.

the domain name I'm thinking sounds nice for this campaign is www.corporatechargeback.com

Well, there's the latest edition of insomnia idea theatre.

If anyone wants to take it an run, go for it.

If it somehow leads to to riches and fame for ya, I dunno, call me an idiot by engraving "you shoulda done it" on a mac pro or something.

Wouldn't work for kickstarter or such sites, as there's no way to make money at it. One might achieve fame through this, but not fortune. Nice idea. I see no future in it, sadly.

Didn't people start a "grassroots" thing with AOL back in the day with those dang AOL CDs? Sent a truckload or so of them back to the AOL headquarters or something?

I like BearLeeBadenaugh's idea...though like Jester I'm not sure how to implement or facilitate it.

Instead of corporatechargeback.com, why not make it wannacard-wannacard-wannacard.com (or something similar). I know it's longer, but it might get the point across.

Credit card offers in the mail come in pre-paid envelopes.

If you want to have some fun, make sure you get rid of any evidence of your name and address, draw dicks or other nasty things on the blank spaces, then send it back to the CC company.

We used to play frisbee with them after closing.

I try to be nice about the cashiers asking; they're just doing their jobs. I usually tell them "I know you have to ask but I'm really not interested, thank you."

I was rather disappointed when AOL starting to send out CDs instead of floppy disks, as I had to go back to actually buying floppy disks.

I did the credit card pusher thing for a few months at one point in my life. I've had worse jobs, but not by much. The pay was low and I was trying to convince busy people to stop and sign up for something they didn't much want, but I had bills to pay so I stuck with it until I found a better job. As such I give them a polite but firm, "Sorry, not interested", and keep going. If they keep talking I just shake my head and keep moving.
