  • Bad manners and entitlement at the bagel store

Went this past Sunday to my favorite bagel place to celebrate an anniversary, decided to pick up a dozen. No tall order, right? Wrong! I have decided that it is not the employees who are the problem. It's the patrons.

I have been in this place a hundred times or more. When you enter, there is a glass case on the left with the bagels, and another up front with the cream cheeses, desserts, etc. In between is where you go to pay. I walked in and went to the immediate left, and everyone was busy taking care of other customers. I stood there for a minute, then two, and then finally five minutes before all hell broke loose.

One lady was at the cream cheese counter, then literally knocked me over at the bagel counter, since I was apparently about to steal whatever she had her eye on there. She left, went to pay, and then a man came along, same thing there.

Finally, another man came right in, and made a bee line to the cash register:

RMWNM (Rude Man With No Manners): Give me two garlic bagels, and make sure they slice it this time with a shmear of chive cream cheese!

Me (As I was not about to just let this happen): Excuse me, but I was here first.

RMWNM: Well, there's a line you need to go to, and you weren't in it.

Me: OK, fine. Go ahead and take your "turn". I'm used to rude and entitled people like you anyway.

RMWNM: You need to calm down. It's my turn!

Well, at this point, one of the employees saw this and immediately helped me as I think they thought I was about to tear this old fart a new asshole. Also, there was no line at either counter, and I know this guy saw me standing there waiting to be helped. I don't think he was used to being spoken to like that.

Spring is coming soon, and I will be so glad when these snowbirds head back up north.

I hate those people. They're so self-centered they don't even see other people around them.

Once I was a pharmacy waiting for it to open, the first person there, and this old woman waltzed up and planted herself right in front of me. The counter person had seen all this, so when they opened he called me over first. As I was leaving the old woman went up to him and snapped, "Excuse me, I was here first and you went and took that girl!"

I replied, "Actually ma'am, I was waiting here first and you walked up and stood in front of me. I guess you didn't see me." Sickly-sweet smile, cue her giving a cat butt face.
